Macaroon issue

After losing numerous character setups when Bizzard cocked around with server-side caching of macros and keybinds, I took the plunge and migrated every single char, MB and SP, to Macaroon.

I'm quite concerned to see that Macaroon hasn't been upgraded since LK was released and that the current release craps out on the test servers (although someone has posted a workaround on the macaroon page).

As the author hasn't been spotted for some time, posting nothing on the macaroon page for many weeks, I'm worried that patch day will be *very* painful for me, so I'm thinking about taking some pre-emptive action... so, is there a.n.other bar/macro addon that does what Macaroon does and is supported?

I've never found any macro platform as well written and full featured as Macaroon, I was using it back when it was part of the trinity codebase.

Interested to hear of any alternatives that live up to Macaroon's ease of use and feature set.

I'm in the process of switching to Macaroon. Agreed, it's very slick! I hope the author can keep up with it.

i switched to bartender4. its a bit easier to use but has its own limitations. if you just need a button mod, this replacement isnt all so bad.

If the author doesn't return and dual spec will hit we are all doomed. Since actionbars will change bigtime : ( I use it for all my chars MB and SP.

So has anyone found out if there will be an update for Macaroon after the next patch? (today?).

I am dreading having to set up another button add-on.

IF YOU ARE PLAYING ON PTR, READ THIS!!!
Due to the changes made to SecureHandlerStateTemplate (SecureHandlerShowHideTemplate is removed), the newest version of Macaroon will NOT work on PTR 3.0.8. However, dewin posted probably working fix on WOWInterface which is available here:

If you are playing on PTR and wanna use Macaroon, please remember to apply this patch!

Which links to a download which claims to fix Macaroon on the PTR so we can only hope it works on the live patch, too.

Being EU, I have to wait until tomorrow to test it on live but would welcome a heads up on whether it works or whether... THE END OF THE WORLD IS NIGH!

Meh, I think I'm done with Macaroon. That addon has cause me several deaths and a good hour of frustration because of it's many issues. I say let the damn thing die and maybe someone will take up the charge to write an equivalent that actually works. I honestly regret switching to Macaroon to begin with and wish I would have stuck with another solution + macro length mod.

Anyone got a list of alternatives?

This is highly disappointing. I hope I'm not going to spend the next 2 days re-doing all my bars again like I did when 3.x hit and then when I switched to Macaroon.

Edit: I jumped to conclusions and said something I wish I could take back.
