Macaroon issue

For those who have not yet logged into the game yet with the borked version of Macaroon:

I was able to use the patch for the PTR:

But I had to restore a backed up WTF file (WTF\Account\Account Name\Server\Character\Saved VAriables\Macaroon.*) to get my bars back...seems if you log out it will wipe them all from the LUA and you have to start from scratch.

So, it looks like you won't lose any of your macros as long as you update the addon with the 3rd party fixit patch FIRST, then log in SECOND. The reports are that the update in the official Macaroon addon thread does NOT work, but just make sure to make a copy of your WTF folder and you may still be able to load your bars from the saved profiles after using the 3rd party fix.

The sky is not falling. It's been updated today in time for the 3.0.8 patch on live.

Edit: This version isn't working for me, but the fix that had been linked earlier is ( http://www.wowinterface.com/forums/s...ad.php?t=18454 ).

NOTE: I had to go back to an archived version of my preferences in the WTF folder for the toon I'd logged in with using this update (no bars showed even after applying the patch linked above) so use with caution

Does anyone know where macaroon stores the macros? I am wanting to use bartender4 instaed but I dont want to recreate all of the macros that I created using macaroon, I can't seem to find them.

That way in case it gets hosed you can copy it all back.

Macaroon macros are stored in WTF -> Account -> {acctname} -> {Server} -> {ToonName} -> SavedVariables -> Macaroon.lua

Not sure if there is an easier way to do it but if u go to your wow folder then WTF> Account> "your account name"> "the server"> "character"> Saved Variables> then go down to Macaroon.lua, u should be able to find them there. If it prompts you with which program to open it with, choose wordpad

Back to the subject, Macaroon not working with the new patch doesn't bode well at all. Having got my FTL setup just right, I need the extra characters for macros.
Does anyone know any other addons that extend macro length? I don't know why Blizzard doesn't just extend it beyond 255 chars...

What problems are you guys having with Macaroon? Once I figured out what I was doing its all pretty gravy, thoug I dont do anything crazy with it.

Edit: Clarification, i know that 3.08 caused some problems, i mean the problems that are causing you to switch off of Macaroon.

As I posted on teh official thread...

My experience with Patch 3.0.8:
0. *** BACKED UP MY WTF FOLDER! ***
1. Patched WoW.
2. Did NOT log in.
3. Updated Macaroon to the newest version here on this page
4. Logged in (no bars)
5. Patched to the 3rd party "fix" linked here: http://www.wowinterface.com/download...uild3.0.8.html
6. Logged in (bars show)

Tested:
1. Loading/unloading profiles -- OK!
2. Changing stances (Tree of Life form, Caster form) -- OK!
3. Editing macro buttons -- OK!
4. Saving a profile -- OK!
5. Creating a new bar -- OK!

In other words, I see no problems once I updated to the 3rd party "fix" directly over the current version of Macaroon found on this official WoWInterface page.


I ran these steps on 4 additional computers with 4 additional accounts and have the same experience. In other words, I can't reproduce the stance issue -- however, my boyfriend (running these steps) has his buttons stuck in the default stance on his WARRIOR, so it's possible druids are exempt from this issue?
