Take the shoulders or chest if you want to level faster, the staff if you just want to look cool.

Only the chest and shoulders give the XP bonus. They stack, so you'll definitely want both. The weapon is amazing for melee - I went from an 81 dps blue I just got, to 119 dps on the heirloom item. I don't know how much weapons affect druid dps, but if it's anything like weapon using melee then it's worth it

I have begun to farm shards, for my alts in the future. Is it worthwile for me to spend more time in the instances to get xp and shards, instead of just questing to reach lvl 80?

What would you do? Focus on one team and get it to 80 as fast as possible, or maybe lvl through instances to get shards? (no boosting).

Currently I have both quested and run some instances (Utgarde Keep). I did utgarde keep 4 times this weekend. First time (lvl 71) it took me nearly 4 hours and I diden't down the last boss because the mobs keept respawning due to me wiping all over the place lol.

Second time with tweaked setup I did it around 1 hour and 30 min. Third time it was around an hour and only died 3 times. Last time was roughly the same.

When you equip heirloom stuff, is it bound to the character? or can I buy a piece and then unequip it and put it on another char on the same account?

Upon further review, I found you can get the same pieces with Champion's Seals, once you get Crusader. Guess what I got today? So now the question(s) is which pieces would be more useful, Feral leather, casting leather or casting cloth. Think about future uses also, but I guess I can get the Feral gear which will work on shaman and hunters and get other types as needed. The emblems/seal should roll in faster now, and shards will continue or increase. I can get 3 pieces or more with the options.

Probably in a short period of time, you're going to have more seals and shards than you're going to care what happens to them. Buy what you really want now.....by the time you decided you wanted the other, you'll probably have shards and seals for that too.

Currently Shoulders and chest heirlooms give the 10% boost. You can also get another 5% boost via winning the ring heirloom from the Kaluak fishing extravaganza thing on Saturdays

Yes I think you hit it right on the head, 40 seals or 200 shards take a week or so, less if I try.

not just to look cool, but when they scale with level, its like gear upgrades for free. Next team I start is gonna have trinkets, weapon, chest and shoulders, and probably something else should they add more.

Also, they have no durability, so it can save a lot of repair costs (as in never repairing stuff, just let everything else be red...)
