Need some tactics cuz I've wiped there the whole evening.

team: 70 pally, 3x70 ele shamans, 1x70 restro shaman

phase 1 ain't a problem, just waiting for the pally to get 100K Aggro
then nuking the hell out of Onyxia. My Resto Shammy stayed on 100% Mana
during this fight.

phase 2 was ... outch.... ony starts flying, and spits firebolts on my team.
I've spread them out a little bit to ensure that the firebolt only hits one of my toons and not the whole group.
the whelps very tricky but I've killed them just spamming heals and letting my resto shaman aggro them while
my paladin stands in front of him consecreating the earth like hell.

main problem: when I use follow so that I can run around and face ony to attack her the firebolts hit my whole group.
If I spread out and don't move ony is 90% of the time "out of range" or "not in sight".

any ideas?

Is there still an attunement to fight Onyxia? I'd like to try her out since I've never seen her even though I raided MC/ZG before BC came out.

I do her most weeks with my 5 shaman. Just put down mana tots, nuke her down, TS the whelps, Chain heal up. Job done.

I think most ppl to it for the 140g or what ever it is that drop off here.. Kinda fast gold...

I did it last night for the first time with my team, each person got 40g plus a few shards/etc, not bad for 15 mins. My mage tanked her the entire time in phase3, my pally just could not pull her off the mage (lol). no key required, can just zone in. You can do ZG in 15 mins (just the 2 mount bosses), Karazhan 1st boss (mount), and Onyxia in under an hour, especially with a mage to portal you around (nice order is Ony->Stonard->Kara->back to Stonard->STV->ZG, at least for horde).

best advice - just level to 80, the damage is a joke at 80 and pretty much any class can tank her. If you really want to keep going at 70, you need to always have tremor totems down, and have the tank be hitting her with something while she's in the air so hes on threat list. She does kind of reset when she lands but there are quirks. Just drag her back slowly and build up threat while your other guys heal.

thx for the input, but I don't have any problems with phase 3 yet, cuz I don't survive phase 2 (when she is up in the air)

1x fire resist, 2x healing stream, 1x mana spring.
When 4-boxing this with 80 shammies my biggest problem is running out of mana when she's at 60% hp..

Can't really die, but after OOM the fight goes slowly.

thought it would be a nice and fast way to get some extra gold because I'm currently trying to get
my flight mounts (non-epic) and so I haven't got bought the WOTLK extension yet so I get gold instead of exp.

I'm currently farming UBRS (lots of cloth and I'm disenchanting all green and blue gear).
Selling those mats = ~100-200G / run.

I'd go and farm strath. Same green stuff (eternal essences -> $$), the lbs you get from bosses are worthless (at least on my server). Plus you've got a chance at the deathcharger

However, ony should also be doable for you. You might want to try to set up movement keys / macros / whatever so that you can move your dd independently from your pally and healer.
Usually you can let the pally tank all whelps and just nuke ony with the eles.

However, aggro does _not_ reset from p1 to p2 or p2 to p3.
That means that most likely your pally will have a lot less aggro than the dd (hopefully not the healer) once p3 starts. So you can expect to either tank p3 with a dd, or just let them die and ankh.
As an alternative to that you can still melee ony in p2 with the pally (to generate some aggro), and if you've got some whelps on the pally he will not even run out of mana.
