Default Does Inscription suck or what? (as a profession)

I took up inscription on one of my shammies a while ago.
After getting it up to 435, now I'm considering dropping it for Tailoring (for the cloak since I've almost got lore master anyways).

There's literally nothing aside from the glyphs that I'd want from the profession.
Even getting the glyphs I do want is going to take forever because of the random research.

The shoulder enchant is nice but this is only one a single clone so it's not a strong selling point.

Anyone see anything in Inscriptions that I'm not thinking of?

Darkmoon Cards of the North are awesome. Some of the best epic trinkets in the game, and the profit margin if you get lucky (Nobles cards go for 3-4K EACH on my server) can be amazing.
Current team: Shnoght (DK) + 4 elemental shamans (Shalph, Sheta, Shamma, Shepsilon)
Heroics cleared: Drak'Tharon, VH, CoS, UK, Gundrak, HoL, Nexus

Waiting in the wings at 80: Shaladin (pally), Shmage (mage), Shruud/Shrued (boomkins), Shelta (leftover shaman)

I sold 3 noble cards for a total of 14k gold, cost me about 800g in mats to make them too (and got a bunch of other cards too but they didn't sell as well).

Tailoring is just a mediocore a profession imo unless your team is all clothies, and there really isn't much thats BOP anyways (woot a flying carpet! and a slightly cheaper-to-make leg enchant).

Inscription is currently one of the worst profs in WOTLK, but I would guess blizz buffs it up in a future patch pretty majorly -- after all, Jewelcrafting kinda sucked badly when TBC launched, but now many consider it the best profession in WOTLK. It would not really suprise me to see in patch 3.2 or later for Inscriptors to get an extra major glyph as Blizzard initially wanted to do, it really wouldn't be super OP but give inscriptors a big leg up.

Ya currently its pretty lame, hoping for something good in a content patch.

Well, I think all professions suck right now, but that's because I am unable to buy the materials to quickly level them, so I use another group to farm them myself. Of course, there are people doing that already, so this basically becomes a block for me to even participate at all. I think the professions are fine overall, but it's too much effort to get the materials at the current prices, so they aren't fun.

i think he's right, professions suck at the moment, they are all money sinks, i spent 5k gold getting inscription/blacksmithing/enchanting maxxed out with a ton of instance runs for greens to disenchant.

Let them hate, as long as they fear.

Inscription, at this point, is kind of silly. Its ridiculous to level and get recipes for, and most of them are pretty lack luster. Its an ok supplement to enchanting or herbalism, and the shoulder enchants are supposed to be pretty awesome, but bottom line, there's nothing particular that stands out about it, or any other proffesion for that matter. I'm still waiting on some truly epic craftables that amount to more than dumping a few thousand G at the AH.

What I'd really like to see are some crafting chains that involve some drawn out traveling to distant parts of the world, gathering strange, exotic, and rare materials to that can only be forged with the hammer from some hermit sage at a special location, and at the end of it all, you get a unique, signed piece of armor or weapon with stats that you chose to put on it reflecting the work and sacrifice you put in to make that item. Something along the lines of a souped up Quel'Serrar or Scepter of the Shifting Sands, or a Thunderfury that required less Gold thrown at it and more questing.

The JC trinkets and JC-Only Gems are pretty impressive for tanks and casters at least. The melee one is meh.

It's like Blacksmiths get two extra sockets (bracers and gloves), JC's get a trinket with stats on it as well as two extra gem slots... oh and better gems to put in those slots. My JC tanking trinket has like 114 stam and 37 defense with the dodge Use on a 1 minute cooldown. It's pretty sick.

I have an inscription guy and I end up just buying what I want off the ah. Much easier to do dailys for gold than farm the mats to make stuff. I made some money while leveling it but if I were to do it all over again.... Waste of time. Most of the professsions are waste of time now. Just have people make what you need.

It's not even worth it to make your own inscriptions because they're just a one-shot deal for most of us. You buy the inscriptions you need, put them on, and never touch them again unless you respec or something. The big thing for inscription right now is just the really cheap shoulder enchant.
