Default Efficient healing with 4 elemental shaman?

I run a DK and 4 elemental shammys. I used to run 3 shadow priests and 1 holy priest but I hate having 1 guy sitting there doing nothing 90% of the time - I could survive fine but lacked dps

I really wanna keep 4 dps classes purly for the damage output and being able to pvp with alot more success later, how could I go about making them throw a heal off to my dk inbetween spamming their castsequence for PVE purposes?

I generally have 2 lightning bolts, chain lighting and a flameshock at the end but I also have 2 seperate buttons for chain lightning/flame shock if I want. Is there anyway I can throw a random cast target=dk heal mixed in there somewhere then continue them back on dps with just the 1 button?

use a separate key for heals either round-robin or have 1 or 2 that use a stopcasting/heal when needed

if yer lacking in dps why dont yeh have yer healer dps some also?

Yeah I didnt even think of a key on roundrobin for a big heal, thanks. I have one button where all 4 heal me but i get too carried away on dpsin and dont wanna stop them all at once just to heal me.

I tried having the healer throw some spells off but he would OOM way too quick plus wouldnt be ready to throw off a heal alot of the time so I just let him dedicate heal.

The priests were good before they get nerfed into the ground, the sole reason I went with them with for 3x VE and the other one that returns mana - worked well until they nerfed both abilites then the team just became useless really. If you want to try a clothie class I would go warlocks, pets + decent dots would be alot more efficient than my priest team, i got them to 72 and just got bored with it - I started my shammy team just after wotlk release and they are 70 already and back to where my priests were basically.

would be so much easier if you could use

    /cast [maincharacter-mouseover] heal or /cast [focus-mouseover] heal

I am a dual boxer, and was trying to come up with a way on my "spam" macro to throw an occasional heal from my back toon to the front one. I ended up with a macro with two /castrandom statements, and a unique usage of ,,, to get the job done. Works pretty well for me, might work for you as well...

    /assist focus
    /targetenemy [noexists]
/castrandom [exists, harm, nodead] lightning bolt, earth shock, flame shock, lightning bolt,,,
    /castrandom [target=focus] lesser healing wave,,
    /startattack

That's got to be scary not being able to know whether or not your alt will heal or dps? What do you do in those: "argh shit im going to die panic!" moments and you alt just keep dpsing?

    You got big cohones, man.

As I mentioned, this is my main "spam" macro. On my toolbar, I also have a key bound to "just heal", for those "Oh Shit" moments. The RNG factor works pretty well for just helping keep you above the 50% health point...

The extremely simple method has always worked for me, ran all instances up to level 76 so far and had no issues. I am running a DK and 4 elemental shamans, I simply have a "healing key" bound to my "3" key. If I push 3, all 4 shamans will lesser healing wave my DK's target if its friendly. If my DK's target is not friendly, then they will all lesser healing wave my DK. Alt+3 makes each shaman lesser healing wave themself, and ctrl+3 makes all 4 shamans chain heal the next person in line (last one will chain heal DK). I also have fallthrough logic on the nomod version of the key - will first try to cast on focustarget, then if focustarget isn't friendly cast on focus, if focus isn't friendly cast on my own target, if my own target isn't friendly or doesn't exist cast on myself.

4 lesser healing waves is enough to take my DK from 35% to full HP at this point. So, when I'm fighting, I simply spam by tank macro + DPS key ("1" is tank macro key, "2" is DPS key). If I need to do a heal I simply move a finger from "2" to "3" and mash the button until I can see at least 3 of my shamans casting lesser healing wave, then go back to mashing "2" again. I thought about using a /stopcasting option in my healing macro but I haven't needed it yet. When I see my tank's HP get low if I start mashing my heal key they start going off pretty quick, since LB/CL/Lava burst on my DPS macro are all fast casting spells. Usually once I start hitting "3", at least 2 shamans will get a heal off within 2 seconds.

Again, this hasn't failed me yet, and IMO putting your healing spells inside your DPS macro is foolish. Not only is this absolutely worthless when you're not instancing, but it will likely overheal you a lot of times and ruin your DPS to boot. Not to mention if you're unlucky it may not even heal you enough and then you have to add in supplemental heals. Better to keep healing on a separate key and push as needed.

Btw for those that want to know, here is my healing macro:

    #showtooltip
    /cast [mod:ctrl,target=CharX] Chain Heal
    /cast [mod:alt,target=player] Lesser Healing Wave
/cast [target=focustarget, help] Lesser Healing Wave; [target=focus, help] Lesser Healing Wave; [help] Lesser Healing Wave; [target=player] Lesser Healing Wave

My first group consists of 1 Protection Paladin and 4 Elemental Shaman, I currently farm several heroics, by farm meaning I do them without wipes (normally ).

I have only 3 healing keys:

    Self heal
Chain heal (each one targeting a different too)
    Tank heal*4

If I place 4 healing totems (which I usually don't) they'll also tick for around 1.5k.

I used to have a resto shaman but I now find this composition much more effective. I also think that you should only that at a comfortable point of your gear. Having massive dps also means that mobs will hit your tank for less time, bosses will use less special abilities, so it can allow going easier on heals.

On the other hand, my tank is now capped both avoidance and defense and my shaman crit at 6k+ lhw, so it makes things easier oc.

While still leveling in instances try prot pala + 3 elemental shamans and 1 resto shaman as dedicated healer.

I basically cast blessing of wisdom on all the shamans, have them water shield themselves and drop mana spring totems x 4. My dedicated healer spams LHW on the tank all the time and basically overheals him big time. The good stuff with this setup is that you can start instancing with a lvl 1 geared tank in ramparts without wiping.

I gift leveled my pala tank to 60 and made him go directly ramparts with his lvl 1 gear and he never died. Several runs later he had decent gear to live on his own, so I added a LB spam to the healing macro on my healing shaman, so now he has two healing macros.
Macro 1 --> target tank's target target (usually the tank) cast LHW
Macro 2 --> target tank's target target (usually the tank) cast LHW, Target tank's target cast LB

The resto talents are big difference because you get a small HoT, earth shield and armor increase on LHW crits. The ancestral awakening talent is usually just 30% more healing to the tank, and when some of your toons get damaged by some spellcaster or ranged atacker that the tank didn't aggro on time it will just make sure they get healed automatically without having to worry about that.

Try this build for your healer:
    http://www.wow-europe.com/en/info/basics/talents/shaman/talents.html?tal=30000000000000000000000000505003100000000000000000 0050035000355310501120331251

The riptide and NS talents are there only for pvp. You also get 10% talented crit chance. Combined with the elemental shamans Elemental Oath it makes crits happen alot.

I rarely need to use manatide totem, but I think it will be a good addition to my raiding group.
