Anyway, the reason I posted this is that I'm curious - why are the EQ2 heroics harder to box? Is it due to complexity?

Two reasons the EQ2 heroics are so difficult to box.

The first reason and the one that upsets me the most is several of the bosses you need to kill as you crawl throught instance have stupid physical tricks required. For example in one instance the group is fighting with ranged DPS a floating mob two members of your group have to bounce up and down and catch floating orbs. If they fail to catch one before it gets to the mob thar you are fighting things gets very ugly and a massive instakill AOE goes off. Its like they went out of their way to make it not box-able.

In another instance books and torches drop which members of your group must grap then quickly use the torches to burn the books or you guessed it a Massive instakill AOE. The time period is soo short you have to have three real members of your group or you have no chance. Oh and a little lag and real people or not your going to die.

The second reason is they have made the mobs very difficult to kill all are heavily scripted with massive AOE's, if anybody in the group makes a mistake it most often results in instakill death for the group. And there is a catch 22, They added a new combat mechanic "Critical Mitigation" only the new gear has it, and you have to run the instance to get it, which is very hard with out gear from the instance . Raid equiped people can run the instances, but causal pickup groups get slaughtered.

Don't get me wrong I don't mind running instance "A" to get gear so you can do instance B. But the way it is there is no instance "A" I can run. I box because I want to kill stuff and feel powerful, not so I can be slaughtered over and over. I liked the game, but the new expansion has 20 instances and I can not get through a single instance, not fun. They are going to loose so many people with this crap. I could go on my I will stop now.
