Honestly, this game is easy enough for one player, you can pretty much pair anything with anything and you'll have no problems, unless you decide you want to do instances.

On that note, if you're set on a holy/resto as your backup, I can offer advice on how the two heal, but you'll have to decide for yourself which you prefer...

The druid's heals are relatively mana efficient, as the bulk of them are HoTs. However, druid's aren't big on healing NOW. Regrowth doesn't have the biggest up-front heal, and healing touch takes a bloody long time to cast. With a druid, you have to get used to how much your HoTs heal, and how much damage you expect to be taking. Saying that, your druid will have more down-time in between heals - while your HoTs are ticking down - to add a little bit of extra dps with Moonfire, or even Wrath. The resto druid will probably take more micro managing. You've also got access to Mark of the Wild, a good all around buff, and innervate to cut down on downtime.

While the priest's heals are a little bit more expensive in terms of mana, the priest will tend to have better mana regen in general. You won't be able to get as much back-up dps out of the priest, as more time will be spent casting your healing spells (I use the term "more" relatively. While soloing, you'll probably only need to throw up a flash heal or two to keep the pali going). Power Word: Fortitude buffs only stamina, but buffs it a lot, and if you plan on going prot, I believe that'll get you more spell power through touched by the light (confirmation?).

Personally, if I were to duo them to level, and not plan on doing end-game instances and/or raids with them paired, I'd go for the druid, as you have more options once you hit 80 (tank, healer, or dps). If I planned on duoing them into the raids/instances, I'd go priest, as I wouldn't want to have to pay attention to keeping up rolling lifeblooms, but as I said, that's only my personal preference
