Hybrid View

Default lag when running 2x wow higher than...

1204x768.. i've got 2 monitors, g15 keyboard and keyclone.. so far im able to sucessfully duelbox without any game breaking issues.. however...

if the two wow windows are any bigger than the said resolution they both become choppy as hell (even as fullscreen 1024x768.. i must run in windowed mode)

My specs should be able to cope with them both running at least fullscreen on each monitor, even at said resolution.. but its just not happening..

    8600GTS 256meg
    Intel E6600
    2gig ram
Wow is run on a Raptor 76gig
Both wow's are run from the same folder

    I dont have SLI.

    All imput is greatly appreciated

Are you using xp? Are you using horizontal span or "dual-view"?

From what other people say, when using XP, you need to use horizontal span or else the FPS will drop on both screens.

    Works better in Vista though.

Okay, so I'm going to have to appear n00bish here... What do you mean by "horizontal span or dual-view"?

I've got a quad-core system, and with just 2 instances of wow going everything starts to bog down. One instance is running on my main monitor (24" at 1920x1200) on an nVidia 8800GT and the other is running at 1600x1200 on an nVidia 7950 GTX.

My FPS drops to the 20s when I have both instances running. I'm running XP Pro as well. Looking at my task manager, CPUs aren't peaked (although only two are being used sadly.) Memory usage isn't high and these video cards should be more than enough...

    I must be missing SOMETHING...

    Thanks,

Yes, you are using Dual View over Horizontal span.

Switch to Horizontal span, you can do this by opening your Nvidia software and switching it from Dual-view to Horizonally spanned.

Bah... Apparently I'm SOL on this as my video cards are different models, I don't have horizontal span across monitors as an option.

I would have thought two video cards, two monitors would have offered a decent performance boost as they could work completely independent of each other, but it appears things do not work that way...

Or am I totally missing something here?

Nope, you're right. Its to do with how DirectX renders across two seperate displays. Even using two diffrent graphics cards doesn't seem to solve it.

Is this an XP only issue or is it also a problem in Vista?

Seems crazy I have such a nice machine and am getting locked down to 27 FPS as a result of this.

    Thanks again for the help!

Its not a problem in Vista, its fixed.
