    Default Metallica rocked the house

Anybody else catch the show at the Forum last night? (the 18th).

Those guys know how to put on a show.

I wonder what sort of ego boost it has to be to have an audience of people chanting along and singing your songs like that, currrrrrrazy.

Metallica is not the same band I grew up with. The Black Album is their last decent effort, and to me, Master of Puppets was their last good album. That's just my thoughts, though. You young'ns didn't get to grow up with the good stuff

You're welcome to your opinion, sure. If they were the same band that you grew up with, I'd be upset. I'd much prefer each album to be different than for them to turn into, say, AC/DC who puts out basically the same album over and over. If you cant find some value in Metallica, Load, Reload or their new album then I dont know what to say to you. Who are you listening to now?

At any rate, the songs were good. They played some old songs that you would've liked... They played Ride the Lightning, Fight Fire with Fire, Motorbreath, Breadfan.. Master of Puppets was unreal live. Oh and they played Seek and Destroy during the encore, thats always good for some live fun.

Some of the songs from the new album came off better live than the others, but all in all I was very impressed with the performance.

We could derail my thread into a metallica sucks now thread, or a "lolnapster" thread.

    Lets not.

Bottom line, they rocked the house last night.

2 funny. Cant wait for Metallica expansion pack to rock out with. Glad to see Lars and the rest finally came around...course they are making mad money!

Have seen them only once (late 90s)...was awesome. I too am a fan of the older stuff but still enjoy their current efforts.

I grew up with Metallica too... and Death Magnetic was their last great album. Honestly, the Black album is when most fans feel like they started "selling out". I am not one of those fans as I enjoy every album and every song that they've created.

And "And Justice for All" is quite simply one of the greatest albums every created, not just by Metallica.

The last time I saw them was the Summer Sanitarium tour of 2003, and they rocked that house as well.

Oh, I never said they sucked. It's just that they changed more to not my liking. Lightning, Puppets, and Justice were all very different albums, and excellent. I (as a lot of old-school fans, I guess) just think they went too mainstream, which is something they always preached against, I guess. Oh, believe me, I would love to see them live for their old stuff, but I just couldn't get into most of Load and Reload. I heard some of their newest stuff on XM and didn't like it one bit.

As to what I listen to now, Clutch is currently my favorite (saw them in Austin the other weekend, kicked some major ass). Then there's Rammstein, Pantera and Black Label Society if I'm in a heavy mood. Maiden, new Priest, some Ozzy. Light mood is stuff like Nickleback or Evanescence or country like Steve Earle, old school country like Gary Stewart and Cash. Pretty much anything that I consider 'good' music.

Oddly, I saw them OPEN for GNR way back in the day. It was awesome because Metallica destroyed GNR.

+1 I totally agree. I grew up with them as I lived in San Jose at the time and used to see them for free at tower records parking lot.

Ever since that Napster thing and then them coming about and saying "Meth and Drinking has helped us write songs" I no longer respect them.

What they did to digital music and pirating is retared however this is not a bash metallica thread so I will stop.

I am glad you had fun though! I had fun back in the day as well.

Yes the crowds at Metallica shows are awesome because all ages are there singing the same song!
