Microsoft Windows XP Proffesional Service Pack 3
    Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Duo CPU E8200 @ 2.66GHz, 2.67 GHz

    nVidia GeForce 9600GT OC

I'd suggest getting at least 4Gb ram.

It'd be a minor upgrade and would be the biggest jump in performance you can have mboxing wise.

Try 5, but make sure to drop it all down to 800x600 and min everything... NOTE: my system is a e6700(core 2 duo) with 4gb ram and a 8800gtx oc2 video card (768mb) and it starts chugging after about 10hours of playing (5x)

So i started using my other pcs (wives & kids pc) lol. No more chugging for me. (i run 3 now on mine and 1 on each of thiers.)

Note I boost with a DK so i usually have a TON of mobs of the screen and Death & decay X2(runesword) so its VERY messy even with everything turned to low.
Raf With 68DK boosting in dungeons to 48 then kill quests to 58, 58-60 4 or 5 outlands quests.

I ran successfully up to 5 accounts on a similar machine til BC w/o entering Shatrath. But in WOTLK things are different I now got a new machine with Vista and 4 GB ram and whenever I am porting to Dalaran with 3 characters I go and make myself a coffee because the rendering of the textures takes a while. So 3 should be possible but 4 I don't think that you would enjoy that.

Is your XP 32-bit or 64-bit?
64-bit can handle a lot more total ram then 32-bit.

I used to run 4 clients on one box with a very similar setup with 4GB RAM.

Performance was relatively good with moderate gfx settings, apart from high load environments such as shattrath. Performance was especially bad (i.e. unplayable) in high load situations within Alterac Valley.

I think your cpu and memory need attention in order to cover the above + wotlk (Wintergrasp pvp is a real beast on the single boxer, I'm struggling to get it smooth on a core i7 running 4 clients).

An upgrade to 4GB ram (with a 64bit operating system) and a quad core cpu would put you in good stead for running 4 clients in wotlk.

I actully just found out i got 4 gb ram and not 2. When i was watching my processers i noticed my ram said 2gb used on 50% lol but my computer said 2 gb in information :P

Anyway. Im boxing with 4 chars now but i've only been in elwynn forest so far. And a little trip to sw in the night with very few players online. no big problems yet.

Buy a second pc and run 2 on one 2 on the other. Your going to lag hardcore when you hit high pop areas.
