Advice needed on a KVM for two pc's

I am in the process of specing out guts for an upgrade to one of my thermaltake armor cases. I really only need a chip, motherboard, ram, hard drives, and a video card. Since I will be going from 5boxing on 1 pc to 2boxing on 1 pc and 3boxing on 2nd pc I need a KVM. I dont know anything about KVM's. I did some limited reading on them and really dont feel comfortable selecting one at newegg.com. The two pc cases will be around 10ft apart. So I need something that can reach them both. From what I understand the KVM allows me to control both pc's with 1 keyboard and mouse. If anyone with experience with KVM's can recommend one that will work for me I would appreciate it. Thanks to everyone who has given me advice during this process. For that matter, for over the year I been boxing too.

I use KavoomKM to great success. I put a gigE network switch between the two computers and have no problems.

Are you not going to have a second screen? Kavoom has another product that is a KVM, but i have not tried it.

The Belkin Omniview SOHO series are good enough. By control, you mean switch back and forth correct? Not control at the same time (broadcast / multicast).

I dont know.. From what people are telling me I need a kvm to control both pc's with one keyboard and mouse. I dont know how this works with controlling the characters on the other pc. I need to do some more reading and talk to more people online and see how they do it.

If you're talking about "gaming" (multiboxing) "KVM" you're talking about a broadcaster. Vetra does this.

If you're talking about a KVM (Keyboard-Video-Mouse) for computer management (read: using a computer), you're talking about a KVM like the Belkin Omniview.

KVM = multi-port device that allows you to CONTROL one port at a time. (port = computer)

Broadcaster = Control ALL ports at the SAME time. Thats where the Vetra Multicasters come in. (there are other methods of doing this with hardware as well).

You can use software to broadcast between multiple PCs as well. keyclone does it. (need to buy two copies)

I was searching the forums and for some reason if you type kvm nothing comes up. I had to type kvm switch and manually figure out which post were about kvms. I found out you can use software with Synergy & Maxivista. I use keyclone right now so buying a second would be no problem. If I had 1 pc running two accounts on my left LCD and the other pc running three accounts on my middle and right lcd, could I mouse to the left LCD using keyclone? My goal is to be able to access all 5 wows with one keyboard and mouse. I am learning new stuff the more I read about this. Thanks for the help. After learning about software broadcasting I am in the wrong forum. I guess I need to buy a second keyclone and use synergy or kavoom.

I've been using it on 5 PC's for about 8 months now and I couldn't be happier.

Nope, just that fear of an OS breaking something is a waste of time as it's so very very rare. Thats like saying "why play WoW, an OS update might break it".
