    Default Standard vs Power Levelling

How do people feel about leveling their characters through powerlevelling instances with a 70 rather than questing etc?

How do you understand the synergy of your characters without the build-up over level?

    Default

70 mage (tested fire but I love ice)

70 warrior (def-tank, tanked in karazhan)

70 priest (holy, already healed the MT in MC, BWL, AQ20)

70 hunter (tested marksmanship and survival but skilled beastmaster again)

62 warlock (MC clear, BWL clear, AQ20 clear, AQ40 + Naxx bosses down before BC)

    49 Rogue (PvP)

so, what shall I learn? why shall I quest with my new group instead of bombing them through instances to get levelups real quick?

I know how a polymorph works and when I need to recast it, I know the meaning of aggro and know how to heal.

I don't want to play the whole content again so I powerlevel through instances until I got my group equipped and got the talents and spells I need for running through the instance without a level 70.

(Pala Tank needs ~ Level 20 to handle the aggro stuff)

With the changes made to faster EXP and higher EXP on quest rewards the standard method might prove to be a viable option.

It has me thinking now if I should level my alts up the normal way, it might be more enjoyable. I do level them from 58-70 in the Outlands but I think your right on the whole synergy of it. If I'm powerleveling with a 70, I'm playing that class and not the one I want to play which would explain why I stop so many times.

Powerlevelling with a 70 in 2.3 is faster than grinding or questing (since xp is less 'jumpy' at least for the range I tested it at (30-45)

however, it's boring as hell. if you're 5 boxing you have to rotate a character out, and in my opinion, defeats the true spirit of multiboxing. It's much more fun to complete the instances solo with appropriate level characters.

    PS: BRD is hard.

i agree if your going for 5 box level all the characters together, it is fun you meet lots of people 90% of the time call you a bot but hey comes with boxing i guess, normally i give them a buff and blow them a kiss and leave them too it.

you will also get a pretty early heads up how your characters are going to 'feel' when your 70, just take them to an instance pvp what ever at when your about 19 i know all classes take a huge change later on but you will see what i mean, ive just (like tonight ) swapped from 4 locks and a priest to 4 priests and a shaman. I really wanted to change becuase i found no real challenge in the other set up with voidwalker tanking, theres very little purpose for a priest other than to ress when your talking to people and it causes one of the locks to die :s and at least the 4 priests 1 shaman is alittle more unique set up, dont know of anyone else doing it on here (there could be a reason for this ). Unlike the warlocks priest combo which is very popular.

anyway slower yes but i think it might save you any sence of regret or doubts about your class set ups.

quests are pretty dull doing things 5 times over but its not too bad. Imo level them as a team you get a better feeling for them, its a hell of a relief when you get that final item to go with the 49 others over your other toons to complete that quest

but play anyway your going to get the most fun out of even do 50;50 boost them in an instance till they are strong enough to handle it themselves as a group. I was getting so sick of rfk grinding, best advice is have in the corner of your screen youtube running, find somthing like never mind the buzzcocks (british tv before people say wtf?) and just watch shows on tv keeps you sain.

Personally, I find it odd that fewer people roll pala's as their main healer. I've already gotten pre-invites to guild just for rolling a pala as my MH (I lawl'd at 'em, but still... Nice to have options).

Palas can do sooo much. I mean, have you ever heard of a dpsing healer-tank? Oh wait... druids T.T Ok, so a dpsing healer-MAINTANK? Ok, so that's not entirely true either...

    but...but... still!

PL to 20-30 and then with rested in instances.

Means you get functional characters straight away rather than working your way up to 20-30 then finding out the last three days were wasted as they have no synergy.

OTOH Grinding instances with a lvl70 Hunter is an absolute pain. : (

I've always thrown my teams together as early as possible, but I'm taking a new approach with my latest project.

I've levelled them to 10 playing as a team, and intend to use my mage to blitz DMines, Stockades and the SM instances. After that, I'm not convinced my mage will be as effective at blitzing simply because she's not at all well geared.

In other words, my new approach is to blitz them to ~level 40, and then bring them together as a team.

    So far, it looks great!

I can tell about my fresh experience. Started to level up 4 new drainei shamans, I already had one to 70.

From 1-10, no choice, I had to do "some" quests that didn't involve gathering quest items because it's such a pain to do it. Mostly was grinding mobs until I ding Lv. 10 while only playing the 4 shamans.

From 10-18, brought in the 70 shaman and started running Deadmines. Didn't loot anything because it wasn't really worth it and I really had some money to start with. I had them follow up from a distance while I fully cleared everyone zone (or almost full clear). I was getting about 75% of a level a run which is pretty damn got, it takes me like 15min to do one, that's over 2 level an hour. Just as a side note, I got from Lv. 8 to Lv. 35 in my week end.

From 18-25, Stockades is awesome. It's a small and very quick clear instance with only elite mobs which give much more exp. The only thing was that I would clear it too fast so that I had to wait at times, so then I would loot most of them to get a starting material base for one of my alts that's gonna be Enchanting/Tailoring. While I would wait on the reset I would log the others out and craft stuff to increase my prof or go play TF2. I would usually get about 30%+ per run.

From 25-35(current), I did one graveyard which is crap, don't go there. I did 2-3 Library to get the key and all. Then decided to start on Cathedral, which was the right thing to do. It's also a small instance with alot of mobs everywhere, just run around gather them all and kill em quick, get you thousands of exp real quick. I do a full clear on the instance all the time. I did loot for the first few times again to gather mats for my 2 prof and to a point I stoped and only looted the bosses for the shards of which I have like 60+ now not sure. Can't even seem to seel one of those things anymore... anyway...

I'm going to stay in Cath. until like 40, then go to Uldaman for a while. I skip Gnomeragan because it's a huge instances and the mobs are all spread out so it's not really worth going, better skip up to Cath where it's quick and all stacked together.

I currently sit at like 18 hours played at Lv. 35 for the shamans that weren't crafting.

So powerleveling instance vs. grinding quests? I'll let you figure out my answer. ^_^

    Hope this helps,
