Keyclone FPS - cant get pass 2 FPS

Hi,

So i've been using keyclone for quite sometime now. I hadn't played since expansion so yesterday i went and baught them. installed it and BAM problem. If i run wow without using a keyclone everything runs good. When i start up wow's with keyclone i cant get pass 2 FPS. This is driving me nuts. I've deleted and recreated my setups in keyclone, took out all addons and reduced all graphics to none basically and im still having the same problem

I've looked through the forums but it seems most players having this problem run multiple monitors and i dont. Once loaded i also tried to /console maxfps 45 and /console maxfpsbk 45 but it didnt change anything. I'm totally clueless at this point on what could be causing this problem. I haven't installed new programs, changed any settings. The only thing that has changed is the WoW expansion.

If anyone is able to help with this i'd appreciate it.

I have noticed significant slowdowns in the expansion areas myself, since they are much more graphically intensive than older areas.
I don't know what to do about it yet, but since WoW's system requirements have gone up with the recent expansion, you may want to check if you need to upgrade anything.

If you post the basic specs of your computer I can probably let you know off the top of my head if it is reasonable to think that may be the probable cause of the problem.

update on the situation, it just happend to work well once, logged out and now trying to log in but im having same problem. That eliminates the Hardware issue but im running a duo core 2.3 4G Ram - windows Xp - ATI 1950 x2

the hardware can be an issue, depending on the mainboard and the number of wows you are trying to use.

you can also run into issues if you haven't trimmed your graphical settings.
run wow normally... go to the login screen... go to options/video and make sure to drop your shadows to as low as possible

Once loaded i also tried to /console maxfps 45 and /console maxfpsbk 45 but it didnt change anything.

maxfpsbk should be MUCH lower if you are having performance problems, perhaps around 5. This limits the FPS on background WoW windows to the indicated number.

As keyclone has noted, this expansion is significantly more resource intensive than BC. IMO, a quad-core CPU is probably needed for satisfactory performance if you're trying to 5 box on one machine. In addition to dropping your display detail, make sure you are not running any WoW addons. You can add these in later one at a time frugally after your system reaches an acceptable performance level, assuming it can.

If the differences are truly seen only when running keyclone, that's pretty weird. When you say "If i run wow without using a keyclone everything runs good.", are you running multiple copies of WoW just as you do when you run keyclone? If so, you can run keyclone _after_ all your WoWs startup and I suspect you will find it has little to no impact. If that's the case, tweaking with your CPU affinity and maxfpsbx settings in keyclone may be helpful.

If you are having FPS issues, you may wish to lower farclip. Its default was canged from 777 to ~1200, as such things are drawing in a much larger radius from the character than they previously were.

Update on this,

After reading the recommendations i have troubleshot this a little bit more. In the keyclone setup for FPS i have it for 5 / 45. This used to work for me and still does. I tried putting all graphics down(i didnt have to do this normally) and problem was still occuring. It seemed to be random at first, sometime it would work well, then other times it wouldnt no mather what i tried. I finally figured out that, when my firefox browser is running it eliminates the FPS issue. I close it down and the FPS issues are back.

That makes no sense to me at all. But it works. I have noticed having a harder time keeping my FPS up to an acceptable level (50+) since the expansion. I am going to by another machine before chrismas. Quadcore vista 64bit 4gb ram (still undecided on the video card(s)) and hope this will resolve my issue. I am still intrigued why having firefox running fixes my issue... any ideas?

wtf? firefox generally hogs quite a bit of memory in my experience, not sure why that would IMPROVE your fps... take a screenshot of your performance tab in task manager when you're getting low fps, that might help us help you troubleshoot a little better.
