Dunno how many of u guys already got the opportunity to join Strand of the Ancients, but i haven't seen any thread about it, and i think it's worth some discussion and exchange of ideas.
Overall i like the concept. It's like a mix between Call of Duty and WoW, only that, we dont have snipers :P
On to the problems i've faced:
Attack:
Beggining of the BG, and im split between boats, and what happens the most is, 3 chars on the same boat as my main, 2 other chars on another boat. It's not that i am lazy, but, by the time im reaching the other boat to grab the remaining chars, theres already rushing horde near it. So i end up trying to kill them quickly to proceed asap, and the problem here is the time im waisting just to regroup my team, because as u may know, SotA is based on a timer, and who manages to reach the final gate faster, wins. In all SotA's i've been, i didnt managed to put my group all in the same boat. Perhaps if u wait until the last 10 seconds to join, ull put all chars on the same spot? Something to test out.
Mid BG, i find myself pushing the horde back, and trying to blast their cannons. It's a fail whenever i try to reach a gate and have to fight in close combat, cause almost every class has now some sort of OP AoE that smashes my group in seconds, along with the cannons that deal ~3500 per bomb. Spreading out is out of question, i dont have time for that, and i just cant see it happening without dying first. And Fast.
End BG, and if my team had enough brains to pick vehicles to blast the doors, this is where a multiboxer can make the difference, by luring the enemy to a spot, opening the way for ur team and vehicles to get in to the last gate. I managed to do it, and the secret was...chain heal like mad. Thunderstorm and Chain Heal...or ur dead. I mean, what good is the lava burst on melees that bunny hop all around u ? Melees with anti spell defenses, melees that ignore thunderstorm and that get healed like never before.
Fighting a DK with one or two healbots, in a situation where u can reach his healers is frustrating. U may say it can happen with all classes that get healbots behind them, but i'l have to disagree, cause DK atm, from my PoV, have some unique dmg reduction spells that no other class has, making them almost impossible to kill with good healer behind. Ofc i always go for the healer, but if i get kited, and all my other followers get CC between, i have to addapt and manage to take out a DPS'r.
Defense:
Start: I always rush one boat, and force the opposing team to either wipe or to jump of the boat. Its such a beautiful sight, watching 5 or more players struggling to be alive and loosing time just to avoid me :P
Problem is, the gate where i cant be, will be completly destroyed because:
a) noobs come following me
b) noobs cant shoot cannons
c) noobs can't open the fukin map for once, and see where they are needed
Because SotA is such a different BG, i dunno, maybe ppl are just not used to it, but yesterday i went to one side rushing their attack, and within one minute our last gate was destroyed. Like in every single BG's, Alliance always had this focus problem, better, this "i don't give a fu**" problem. Ppl dont know how to play, and thats it. In the end the multiboxer always end being the problem, and the reason why we lost. There's 15 chars there. 1/3 manages to control half the oposing team. The other 2/3 cant manage the other half, and the problem is the guy who is giving everything to win :P Has been like this since the beggining.
Mid BG it's me trying to fall back and defend the last gate, where, 80% of times, i fail, cause the oposing team has like 2 tanks destroying our gates WITHOUT ANYONE doing nothing besides trying to kill the other players by foot.
End BG it's just the end of a FAILROUND and i smash my head on the keyboard asking myself how retarded can people be. I mean, cant ppl think for a second and know what to do? ofc not.
The BG is great, but really not a boxing paradise. Sometimes i reach the end of the BG with my brain completly messed up, and thank god it doesnt takes more than 20 minutes or so.
experiences, tips, can u guys share anything ?
