SSD on Newegg OCZ Core Series V2

on newegg for 49.99 after rebates.

Is this drive worth it if I already have 300gb raptors?

Will I see a big enough difference in 5 boxing or should I just wait for a different ssd?

It is worth it for just symlinking your data directory.

I just don't understand why the OCZ SSDs are so cheap....

Compare them to the Intel's, it's ridiculous. Given the difference between SLC and MLC, but even looking MLC to MLC, why are these so much cheaper?

How do I do this? i have a 130ish ssd and i have not niticed any improovments over a normal hard drive.

MLC drives are fine for scenarios where you mostly do data reads, or sequential writes. They perform *quite* poorly on random writes or when there are multiple IO threads accessing the drive.

The Intel drives are expensive because they are the fastest things on the planet, pretty much.

I've run a 60 meg SSD (the OCZ Core2) for a month now and to be honest its nothing spectacular, I started out with symlinked data\ folders on my hard drive and that helped a lot, moving the data\ folder to a symlinked SSD gave very little performance boost. It hasn't made it worse or anything, but to be honest I wouldn't bother with the OCZ SSDs, put the money into more memory/new CPU instead.

money was not an issue for me in building the rig i wanted. I SHOULD have went with the newest raptors. I was "told" SSDs were best for my use ( multi-boxing) And I'm no tech pro. so I go on what research i came up with. I should have done more hehe. I still might convert to two raptors in raid0
