Default Newbie help request - Dual-Monitor Single PC Portrait boxing?

    Hello Everyone,

I am very new to these forums, And i do apologise if i am asking a question that has already been answered, I tried using search but couldnt find it please dont flame

I havent started dual-boxing and i really want to give it ago, I am going to order a new machine for my multibox, I want to run 4 WoW characters at once on it.

    My Main Questions:

1, I want to run 2x 24" monitors via the dual dvi, And i want to run them both in portrait mode with 2 characters per screen, Will Keyclone work okay with multi-displays in portrait mode ?
2, Will a 9800gt support multiple displays in portrait? Would it be better to go ATI for this sort of setup?
3, I will be running my main character on my main machine, I see theres options for networking keyclone but just to make sure is it possible for me to control the 4 boxed characters from the comfort of my main PC?

Also in reading these forums i am looking at a machine with a core 2 duo (3ghz 1333mhz fsb) 4gb of ddr2-1066 sata2 16mb cache drive and a 9800gt video card, Would this run 4 Wows over multiple displays well ? Or is there something i should try and upgrade? Solid-state drives cost to much in new zealand so will be limited to sata2

Again i do apologise if this has been asked in the past just very interested in trying this and want to know if there are limitations before i go out shopping, Thank you for the fun idea finally something i can do to amuse myself while im working grave yard

    Thank you for your time

    - Yes keyclone will run it over 2 displays and can be networked but you will have to buy 2 copies.

    - 9800gt - had these and wasnt getting the greatest framerates out of them. I would go a 260 or 280 if only running 1 single. The Core 2 duo may handle it but you will get better results with a quad core. I run 5 wow on 1 - 10,000 rpm WD velociraptor and it handles it with ease, I did however use this particular bit of info which I feel has improved my performance greatly Powershell If you can afford to pump up your ram a bit do it...

    Default Quad Core: Recommended

It is very possible to run 4 instances of wow on a single computer. I am new to this myself having gone to 3 boxes a few days ago and just jumping up to 5 tonight - however I have succesfully completed the 1-10 area with my little group. I would be a bit concerned about trying to run even 4 instances on only a dual core machine. Definetly look into a Quad Core. 5 Instances put my machine at 85% CPU utilization constantly with some higher spikes. My system specs are below if it helps.
    - Team Xaria - Gilneas -
    System Specs: Q9300 Quad Core 2.5Ghz | 8GB Corsair XMS3 | 2x250GB SATA HDDs | EVGA 9800 GX2 | Nforce 790i Ultra SLI
Dual Monitor Display: Samsung T260HD (26 Inch Widescreen) & 19" LG LCD (It puts my shamans a bit out of peripheral vision....
Software: Key Clone & Maximizer Running 2 Instances of WOW @ 1920 x 600 on Main Display (Mage / Pally) and 3 instances of WOW on Secondary (Shamans) @ 640x512, 640x512, and 1280x512.

I currently 4 box on one machine without major issues.

    My machine:

    ASUS M2N-SLI Deluxe Motherboard
XFX GeForce 8600GT XXX 256MB Card
    AMD Athlon 64 X2 5600+ Windsor 2.8GHz S Dual-Core Processor
    Crucial 4GB (2 x 2GB) DDR2 800 (PC2 6400) Dual Channel
    XP Pro
    2 160 GB 7200 RPM HD

Running on a 22" widescreen Viewsonic monitor. I use what i call the Brady Bunch display, which is one large window and 3 small windows stacked on the right side at 600x450 resolution, which is large enough to almost be able to read quest notifications and the like. Going to 5 boxing on that screen I doubt I'd be able to read a damn thing.

I'm upgrading to a 9800 GT with 512 MB memory any day now once I get some PSU problems ironed out.

I've run a set of 4 shammies to 60 and have my 4 druids at 47 and trying to get them to 60 and also make a couple single 60s with RAF grants and some boosting with my 70 feral. I did almost pure questing, though the druids got a little SM and 2 runs through ZF underlevel.

Affinity settings to the cores via keyclone are a big help, I have mine split (and the several folders split between HDs). I might move the 3 slaves to one core and keep the main on the other, see if that changes life.

I'm likely to hit issues with low memory when I take them all to northrend, which might finally kick me into Vista.
