Best pci wireless adapter to get?

so i got my new system together and forgot i need to be connected to the internet! l cant get a wired connection, so i need a wireless adapter. what adapter out there is the best to get? also pci or usb? ive only been looking on newegg.

best PCI NIC is the killer but thats loads of money (about 8-10x the price of a normal one)- you should just pickup any pci nic

You may want to look into power line networking. Gaming over wireless can be rough.

I used powerlines a couple of years ago when they first came out, they work to a fashion, but sometimes they will just drop the connection, but they give you better range than wireless

l cant get a wired connection, so i need a wireless adapter.

some wireless cards/routers can still be hit-and-miss in my experience, even though the standards have been out for years. i was always a big fan of linksys until one of their wireless cards started causing hiccups with my sound (don't ask, some kind of complicated buffer interference). replaced the wireless card with a different brand, but it wasn't getting a very good connection with the (linksys) router, despite being well within range.

couple things to keep in mind when going wireless:
1. DON'T GO WIRELESS IF AT ALL POSSIBLE
2. get router and wireless card of the same brand. sure, wireless standards exist and most brands can connect with no problem whatsoever, but it's better to be safe than sorry. plus, it's easier to get support from one company if something goes wrong than listening to 2 different companies blame each other.
3. make sure the router and wireless card support the same wireless standards. pretty much every wireless device out now supports wireless G, so you shouldn't have any issues with connecting with at least G speeds, but you don't want to get an N router and be stuck with G speeds because you got a G wireless card. (if you have a G router already, it might be worth it to get an N wireless card, just for future upgrade-ability)
4. buy local imo, if you can find good prices, and save the receipts. i can't count the number of times i've had to return wireless hardware.

that's my advice, but i've just had crumby luck with wireless. i'm currently running wireless-free (kind of... i'm wired to a wireless router >.> ) and not having any latency issues with my onboard ethernet.

as far as suggestions, i've been lucky with my D-Link wireless N router. I'm not sure if this is exactly the same one or a later revision, but i'd recommend it :P
