Thread: Hex bugged?

Ahh. That makes perfect sense. I'm using the FTL system, and my F6-F10 set each one of my shamans focus to the target i want hexed. Since you're already using focus, i'm not sure how you hex more than one mob.

I also use focus to tell my characters which one is the leader, which means their regular target is free to use for hex. Much like I've been planning all along, this just proves my planning was correct in not changing to the FTL system

I do the same thing and am happy that I won't have issues with Hex either. A lot of people that argue against using focus on your main and focustarget for harmful spells don't understand that /target and /focus work almost the exact same. Personally I like using /target for CC better than /focus because then with X-Perl I can see each of my shaman's targets who they will be hexing, etc

You guys are confusing me. I DO NOT USE FLT setup. Instead I set focus on each character and the macro for hex does not work. Currently I cannot figure out how to get hex to work so I dont use it. I am pretty frustrated with the spell.

    The normal focus macro
/cast [target=focus] name of spell doesnt work for hex as in /cast [target=focus] hex

    however

    /target [target=focus]
    /cast hex
    /targetlasttarget
does work cause the first line will have you target whatever your focus is no matter what then will cast hex on that target

but this macro wont work for you if you use /focus to assign your clones a leader which i used toso i switched to the alternate FTL setup as in
    /assist [target=nameofmain,exists,nodead][target=clone1,exists,nodead] and so on

So if I assign focus as leader the macro above is worthless. This macro only works if I use the FLT setup. Is this correct?

if your focus is leader, just do this:
    Code:
    /assist [target=focus, exists]
    /cast Hex
of course, this isn't quite the same as using the focus target system. you would need to set up some sort of round robin thing so that each of your clones have a different hex target. i have a focus leader system, but i don't have shams, therefore no hex. i do want to set up something for cyclone though, just haven't taken the time to do it :whistling:

Yup thats correct, cause if you use /focus to set yor leader and you use that macro it will try to hex your leader.... i spent all day yesterday setting up new macros that included what i typed earlier

I don't have Hex yet, but I am running tank + 4 shamans, and here is what I intend to do (and what I would already do if my shamans had a CC).

First off, I use focus on my clones to focus my leader. When they cast a harmful spell they use [target=focustarget], so say for Lightning Bolt I do:

    /cast [target=focustarget] Lightning Bolt

where focustarget is my tank's target.

So, this leaves my actual /target on all 4 clones open - they NEVER target anything when I'm in combat at this point.

So for hex, heres what I do. I have a button on each shaman that does:

    /assist focus

This automatically makes all 4 shamans target what my tank is targetting. I use this if I need to use an item on a corpse on all 5 shamans at the same time or something. In this case it would be useful for hex. What will be more useful though is to have 1 key on each shaman that is a different keybinding on each shaman that will assist my focus, such as '6' on shaman 1, '7' on shaman 2, etc. So I could target a mob, hit 6, shaman1 will target mob, target mob 2, hit 7, shaman2 will target mob, etc.

Then I just copy my hex spell to a key binding on the shamans and voila - if the shaman has a target (because i hit my assist button for that shaman) that shaman will cast hex on the mob it is targetting, otherwise it won't be able to cast anything. I will also make a panic hex button that tries to hex everything:

    shaman1:
    /targetenemy
    /cast Hex

    shaman2:
    /targetenemy
    /targetenemy
    /cast Hex

    shaman3:
    /targetenemy1
    /cast Hex

    shaman4:
    /targetenemy1
    /targetenemy1
    /cast Hex

Will try to hex 4 targets in front of my group by "tabbing" X number of times so that each shaman targets something else (will overlap if <4 targets exist in front of me).

I will fine tune this once I get a chance to test more with it but this is similar to how I do my seduce and spell lock macros on my warlocks and it works great.

Interesting.. If I did this and just bound the hex macro on the same key I can use keyclone to round robin hex if I only wanted to hex one thing. If I wanted to hex multiple things I can use the above setup. When I get some time I will test it out.. Thanks!
