Many of us just run one machine (software boxing). I run 5 accounts with Keyclone. I put some thought into my macros and my setup and read everything on this site (we have a solid, growing Wiki).

Multi-boxing is all about experimenting, trying new things, tweaking settings and macros and everything else constantly - figuring things out are as much fun as actually PVEing or PVPing.

Start simple, and read this site, and the Wiki. Try to do things before you ask, and never think you have it all figured out. Most of all, have fun with it.

.. and before you know it, you're enjoying yourself so much you buy another 2-3 accounts, and then another machine to run them on. :P

I do an 1 and 4 setup. My leader is on a desktop with a celeron processor and the 4 characters chasing her are on a core2duo processor desktop. Most of it is understanding how each character benefits your group. Read the O-board class forum stickies, the forums here, the class specific sites(Maintankadin.com, Shadowpriest.com, etc.) Then you figure out how to spec and which skills to add to your /castsequence macro. I use Keyclone also. Welcome to the boards, have fun.

I'm into warcraft now, but started my online rpg fun in everquest.

Pretty much solo was not possible, with the exception of a couple of classes in EQ beyond the Kunark expansion..
So I assumed wow would be the same and that two accounts would be the minimum to solo any outdoor region.

This summer, added a third account and keyclone, then decided keyclone makes boxing so easy, why not go the full 5.

Boxing is so fun, you'll have a blast.
    Welcome aboard.

Two is preferred by many so go ahead and stick to that for a while. I find I have better control with two, I left my third char at 75. This may of course differ from person to person. And with 5 you can of course do things you can't do with two or three.
