Default Keyclone: My Idea.. Could use some help on how to do it!

    Hey all!

I just started on a new server, and I want to roll a caster/Warrior combo (Dual-box). Now, here's how I want it set up. I want to play my caster as my main screen, and have a separate set of keybindings for my Warrior. For example:

    Main: Mage
Hotkeys: Normal ones... WASD for travel, normal 1,2,3,4,5 action buttons, etc.

    Follower: Warrior
Hotkeys: Ignores my mage hotkeys, and only uses the FKeys. F1 = Follow, F2=Bloodrage/Charge F3=SunderArmor/Taunt... something along those lines.

Using KeyClone, how would I go about doing this? Would I just have to add each key individually (Mage's main hotkeys) to the Ignore Key list? and have it so my Mage has nothing set for the Fkeys, so it just registers over on my warrior screen?

If anyone has done this with a tank/healer combo, or something along these lines, I'd greatly greatly appreciate your help!

Thanks all! I'll be online alll day fiddling around with this idea
BTW, I'm on my character named "Bonedriven" on the Horde side of Arthas Realm!

As you can see I am new here.

I started to play a trio of Warrior, Priest and Warlock recently (level 30 now) so I don't have that much experiance, but I hope my answer will help.

First I would recomment not to play the mage as a main. It is pretty difficult to navigate the Warrior in to closecombat range.

On the other hand, the mage just needs to face the target of the warrior.

Just have the Mage follow the Warrior.

With keyclone that is no problem.

Just block WASD, so it will not be parsed to the other client.

Then set up a macro on the 2nd client with /follow toon1 and map it to F1.
You should also delete the Keybinding for F1 on the 1st client.

What I found very handy was mapping one of the other chars to use ALT+1-0.

ALT+1-5 is very easy to reach. Also bindings like ALT+Q/E/R/F/C are handy.

With Keymaps that might be even easier to do.

Very good advice. You're right about the Alt keys. So, what do you recommend playing with then? I really want a mage, and I really want a Warrior. Should I try them both? I could add a third possibly :P which sounds like a blast. That way, I could do a shaman/warrior/mage and wouldn't have to sacrafice healing. But i'm not sure yet.

I think Ilion covered it... but i would suggest when you start playing with multiple classes, you'll soon come into the need of overlappign keys... when that happens, start to think keymaps. there is also a setting so a clone will only accept keymapped keys... kind of like a white-list but for keymaps

For dual box combo, I'd considered Druid + Mage combo, as druid is more versatile. Main reason for recommending druid is that you could tank for PVE, and switch to boomkin for PVP. Based on my experience, two casters would be easier for PVP. It is hard to do the melee dance around your target while controlling your mage at the same time. And plus the occasional healing for the mage would be nice. That's just my take on this. Hope it helps.

Personally I adore keymaps! I use them for everything, the main reason is that it allows you to keep your main keybinds constant between all clients.

I can bounce from my pally to my mage to my other mage and know that 6 is the hotkey for a specific skill/button, nothing complex or convoluted.

Yea, it took a bit to get setup right, but once I got that dialed in, rock solid.

    Default Similar Setup

I've been playing a very similar setup, albeit with 5 characters. I was using my main as a Warrior then a Paladin, Shaman, Warlock and Priest. Not a bad group individually, but difficult as a multi-boxer in PvE. PvP isn't too bad, I charge with the Warrior, tap a key to stop the casters from following, the Paly follows the warrior to the target and attacks on assist. Still some problems though.

I was thinking of switching my mains, making the Paly my main and just adding a macro or hotkey for charge on the warrior. I haven't mastered or even tried keymaps yet, for now I use the donotpass whitelist and only allow my F keys, 1-0 and the back arrow (to stop casters auto follow). Good luck

just a suggestion for 2 boxing (I did this with a shadow priest / warrior combo before I started 5 boxing). If I were you, I'd run with the warrior as the main screen, and bind all the mage actions to the keypad off to the right. While using WASD and the numbers with the left hand for the warrior, its easy to reach over and use the keypad with the right hand, rather than reaching on top to the F-keys.

I use the keypad-0 as my big follow button, and the keypad-. key as the assist.

    Just my 2cents

What exactly do you mean by keymaps? Explain in detail how you did this...

This sounds like a good idea also :P Hmm... I'm not sure what I should do. Currently, I'm runnnin' a Shaman + Mage together... focusing on the Shaman. I attack with my Shaman first (Earth Shock)(2) and then stop my caster from running/cast Frost Bolt (Q)... spammin this along the way. I then cast a lightning armor (3)... etc. However, I'm only lvl10 on both and can see how this won't last long :P. Lots of hotkeys.

    Not sure what to do.
