Tal's tip for Eck should be listed somewhere as a best practice.

Tried it last night and that fight is now, indeed, ezmode. Hachoo's cornering doesn't make any sense if you have 30+ ranged casters. Hell, any group should keep its casters at range.

    Thanks Tal.
Its a lot easier to just position your 4 slaves in the corner than try to position them at 36 yards and keep them in range of firing but out of range of leap. Sure its not that hard but putting them in the corner takes seconds and prevents him from ever getting behind them, and as long as you know how to use taunt on your tank your slaves will never get hit with spit.

IMO its just easier/faster (faster for me is by far the key word as I was able to run all of gundrak in less than 20 minutes before I stopped multiboxing) to bundle up in the corner.

Either method is valid, it's up to the player to decide what works best for them. Mine requires that all your alts be ranged, so it's not going to work for everyone to begin with, where yours would work. For me, my method is easier than positioning in the corner because I simply park my guys in the middle of the room and pull Eck only a short distance right up the stairs and focus all my attention on just tearing him down as fast as I can. The Eck spit isn't going to kill me, my priest can keep up with him. I just use this method because it requires virtually no special setup, just distance. As a bonus to your method, you can also get the Eck Residue achievement, but you only need to do that once. "Easier" is a relative term.

Sorry Hachoo, but its not just as easy. You've been invaluable in your help, but I think your over-gearedness might cloud your opinion on this one. I have done Eck a dozen times with the corner method. My last three have been with Tal's advice.

The cornering method requires re-establishment of aggro and mob positioning as I've had several situations where I had to go to emergency AE heal spam to save the encounter. Perhaps my tactics for the corner weren't perfect, but...

Tal's method makes this the simplest of tank-n-spank. Again, if your DPS is all ranged stand at max and hammer away. Its ridiculously easy.

I used the corner method for Eck right from the start (Straight to Heroics at 80) and its the best method I can think of. The worst case scenario if he does leap is that the spit might hit only one of the slaves for like 1-2 seconds. You just taunt and heal and keep DPS up.

I was the same Gares, until I tried Tal's method.

Probably killed Eck 10 times now using the 30+y range method and there isn't an easier boss I do. It is, literally, a heal-tank-mash-DPS fight now with NO regard to any boss behavior. The corner method, while effective, simply requires more potential activity and has a HIGHER chance for toon loss/wipe.

Try it (if you have all ranged DPS). Its really nifty.

been searching for a few, and haven't seemed to find any melee boxing strats... i tried gundrak the other day with my feral druid tank,3dk, +healer friend helpin out(** my druid is in mostly 10 man epics, and my dks are 25 man geared with a solid frost dps spec**).... we downed everything pretty much no problem but the last boss and with his whirlwind, charges, impales was just too hard to kill

For bosses that whirlwind i usually just let my dks dps from ranged against a wall(like i do for heroic nexus lol dps the dorf boss from range and deathgrip/kill clerics with the dks hehe) but that strat just doesnt work with the last boss in gundrak

    nexus advice

if your whole group gives the tree boss a hug, no one will have to worry about being violated by spikes

next, the partially visible wall will stop your ranged personnel (your tank has to be in the "arena") from being moved around during the gravity toss thing
but you can't attack her from where she is, which means your tank will have to pull her closer to the entrance by attacking her and then running backwards until she's close enough for the ranged to hit her, then run back in and tank her so she doesn't run too far and reset. You have to pull her closer again when she respawns after splitting.

in heroic there is an optional boss down the stairs to the right of her. He comes with two clerics that you should kill first, but then he's effectively tank, spank and remember the tremor totem.
I thought I would throw this "tip" in there.....
If you don't feel like eating the spikes, there's a spot where I park everyone - except for the tank. Make sure you tank the boss in the middle. Also, don't forget to drop some magma totems for those pesky little adds. Hopefully, someone will find it helpful. Have a good one!

I'll give this a bump, it's good information, but the threads it's pointing people too are what we want to get away from. We want to have 1 thread for bosses that cover ALL the tactics, not just for certain group comps.

If I drink enough coffee tomorrow morning - I'll make a stand at cutting this thread up and putting the relevant posts into the correct threads.
