Default Siege weapons/Vehicles and multiboxing discussion

Siege weapons are next to impossible to master at first glance for multiboxing. Or is it? I was about to just give up on it all together, but I've started thinking and belive it isn't that hard perhaps, with the right tools for the job! Anyhow, this discussion is going to be about sharing ideas on how to master the art of multiboxing siege weaponry! Woozah!

    Siege weapons importancy:
In wintergrasp, it seems controlling a siege weapon is a must. Walking around without one isn't an option in my experience, believe me I tried, but siege weapons seem to kill me before I can really do anything. So we're stuck to using them, if we want to be as succesfull as possible. But how?

The issues with siege weaponry and multiboxing:
First of all, you can't put anyone on follow when controlling a siege weapon. This is the major issue. Having to independantly move multiple siege weapons across multiple screens seems highly ineffective. In fact, it takes a lot of time and dedication to get somewhere and you are usually left with a great deal of frutration while trying to get where you want to be. So how can we beat this?

It seems the only way is having all yoru windows visible in your set up and have independant keys for movement across all of your toons.

I'm experimenting with the following movement set up. (Ineffectively as of yet, but I'm confident it's more of a 'getting used to it' issue.)

    [ u][ i][ o][ p]
    [ h] [ j] [ l] [ ;]
    [ ] [ ] [ m] [ .][ /]

    Toon 1: left right : U and I
    Toon 2: left right : O and P
    Toon 3: left right : L and ;
    Toon 4: left right : . and /
All toons: left right : h and j
    autorun for all four: m
    67890 for petbar skills.

Basicly, I got two screen set up with my three alts on my second screen on top of each other with the screen tilted on its side. My keyboard layout matches the irl dimensions somewhat. What I am trying to achieve with this is to effectively move about with four chars without having to swap screens all the time.

currently trouble I'm having is that I need to release turn all before independantly turning some other toon. At longer distances it's quite managable, but in short quarters I'm still having quite a lot of trouble.

I need an Xkeys pro thingy tbh. :<

Anyhow, I'm interested in hearing other peoples ideas on siege weaponry and multiboxing!

I forgot to note I also use my mouse across all four screens wherever I need fine tweaking. Turn keys for individuals whenever I need major turning on a single char and Turn all keys when all have to turn.

By the way, if you're thinking, how the hell do you bind so many keys for turning? I just keymap the keys so wow thinks I click the turn keys, while in reality I click diff keys.

Not a bad idea. I used to do something similar in eq1 when trying to control 3 melees. (SK, MNK, BRD). granted, thats 2 less than you are going for, but still lol. LKet us know if you get it working well. I abandoned EQ shortly after that, but it was workable, just alot of work learning it. have you considered using the numpad?

As an aside, I don't think theres a limit to the keys you can bind to an action. I know I think one of my guys has 3 or 4 keys bound to left/right..(hardware boxer, so no keymap 4 me). after 2 you have to use the script commands to do it tho, which is kind of a hassle. (my multiple binds are for formations) You just cant have 1 key bound to two actions. (which EQ allowed, ironically, and is one of the few things about wow that annoys me, lol, tho I have no idea what I would do with it TBH. Im just used to being able to doublebind things for 8 years lol. usually to my detriment).

When playing offense controlling vehicles definitely seems like the way to go, for defense though it seems like you can be more effective actually outside a vehicle as your team casting and destroying the enemy vehicles. They have like 50-100k hp so you pretty much just melt through them in seconds, also thunderstorm knockback effects vehicles which is pretty OP/funny

4x Elemental Shamans is amazing for anti vehicles. Flame Shock - > Lava Burst melts through them like suprafro mentioned.

As for the Vehicles in question, your usually not alone and we provide excellent support taking out any enemies while guarding vehicles. I'd be interested to see how effective we are on vehicles such as the Siege weapons which allow multiple players to jump on 1 vehicle.

Actually looking further into it, once you obtain the ranking to use a Siege engine it allows I think up to 4-5 players inside, 1 to drive / 1 gunner and passengers. So you can roll around with that, set up the gunner to spam in front of you and go to town. If/when it is destroyed all of your characters pop out with full HP and you just continue.

Well, it might be because on my server horde outnumbers alliance by miles. So alliance always get an INSANE buff. Always rogues walking around with 75k hp screwing me up and such and tanks that one shot my shamans on the spot. Not to mention resto druids hurricaning me for 3k damage a tick.

On our server, you need to be in a vehicle, to be of some use.

It's usually 30-50 horde vs like 3-4 alliance. (And still being able to lose since the alliance just guards the walls and one shot everyone. :< And horde just keep going back in their tanks, hoping they can launch one round at a gate or wall. x_X

Wintergrasp has some balancing issues imo. :P

I haven't made it to wintergrasp yet but one quest i did earlier involved a vehicle. Really sucked that i couldn't get all the toons mounted and /follow. What I ended up doing was mounting one toon in the vehicle and then had the others mount land. They could follow me then. I used the vehicle to do the quest and everyone got points. Not sure if that would work in wintergrasp. Like I said..haven't been there yet.

I have been spending most of my time in wintergrasp as vehicle protection and support. I usually follow vehicles and knock out as many of the people that try to take out vehicles from a longer range and mop up the people that pop out of blown up vehicles. ( Amazing what a nice chain lighting can do to those guys piling out of a blown up tank )

As for using a vehicle myself, I havent been able to successfully do it, so I have been avoiding tackling that problem yet. Will have to see once i get the time to actually do it.
