    Default Are people just doing this differently?

    Hey Guys:

    I'm going to repost a PM to keyclone in the hopes that SOMEONE here who HAS got it working can help answer my question:

    <blockquote class="wysiwygQuote">I'm really hoping you can help me. I just bought a new top of the line core i7 system, 5 copies of WOW, and prepaid all accounts for 60 days. I've been using hotkeynet for my trial, and now that my system is built, and characters already to go, i've bought keyclone - thinking it was easy to setup and offered more flexibility and support. I've spent the last 4 hours trying to get this to work, going over TONS of posts, and i'm still not getting it. The worst part, is that I'm have a bit of a programming background and the wording is just not making sense (got maximizer working though, which was worth the $20). I'm hoping you can help me. My team is made of 1pally (my main), 1priest, 3xmages

    I can prevent 1-&gt;0, A-&gt;Z from passing (using do-not-pass), but I cannot prevent SHIFT 1-&gt;0 from happening on the MAIN. I cannot also prevent ALT 1-&gt;0 from happening on my main.

    For my mages, I have this fireball macro in slot 3:
    /target teamâwesome
    /assist
    /cast fireball

    I would like ALT-3 to activate the number 3 for my mages ONLY, so I followed your instructions and did this:

    - I went to keymap editor, and mapped the ALT-3 key to the hotstring "mages.fireball" and saved it in a file called MAIN.kcl
    http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3014/...eed3416d23.jpg

    - I then created another hotstring to map the "mages.fireball" to the 3 key and saved it in MAGES.kcl
    http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3214/...14e13b51a3.jpg

    - I then loaded the MAIN.kcl in window1 (my pally), and the MAGES.kcl in windows 3,4,5 (my mages)
    http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3252/...ab7aaf824d.jpg

    I started attacking a mob with my Pally, then hit ALT-3. My mages did nothing, and my Pally started to cast holy light on himself (that spell is in my pally slot 3). If I quickly click on all the mages windows while my pally is attacking and press 3, they will all cast fireball - so i know the macro's good.

    I know KC is passing some things, because I've created a generic "accept all" macro for the others, put in in the bottom right action bar, and assigned a WOW keybinding ALT-F8 and it works. It's probably running it on my pally too, but I don't have anything bound to ALT-F8 on my pally.

    Here's my do not pass list: RETURN ESCAPE 0 (2-9) (A-Z) F1 F2 F3 F4 F5 SEMICOLON EQUALS SLASH

    Here's how I would prefer my mappings:
    PALLY: 1-0, A-Z do not get passed (main window)
    PRIEST: SHIFT 1-0 goes ONLY to the priest (window 2)
    MAGE: ALT 1-0 goes ONLY to the mages (windows 3,4,5)

    What am I missing?

    If you've answered this already, my apologies - but the wording is just not making sense to me. Thanks for your time. </blockquote>
    I basically want my ALT 1-&gt;9 keys to control mage actions, and my SHIFT 1-&gt;9 to control my priest actions. The problem is that when I hit ALT 3 (which should cast fireball on my mage), it actually self casts my healing spell on my pally.

    I'm used to hotkeynet intercepting ALL keyboard characters and sending them to the copies of wow, but it appears that Keyclone does not work this way.

    Am I just missing something, or is everyone else controlling mage and priest casts differently? I've spent 6+hours now on the forums and tutorials with this issue and am not getting it.

    Please - someone enlighten me! I will give my phone number to anyone who PM's me if it would be easier ...

    Wow bad formatting batman. From what I could glean from this you are on the right track... one thing to keep in mind:

    If wow has a keybound such as 3, but not ctrl 3 or alt 3 and you press ctrl3 or alt3, wow will react to 3.

    In order for a hotstring to pass, it has to be on the whitelist or NOT on the blacklist. so if you want to pass ctrl-3 as a hotstring, you need ctrl-3 on the whitelist if you are using one, and not on the blacklist if you are using one...

    *sigh ... yeah - sorry about the first post ... not sure what was up with the HTML.

    So when I hit ALT-3 on my main (pally), how do I send that to my mages, and PREVENT that from running on my Pally?

    In HotKeyNet, i simply do that with:

    Code:
    <hotkey ScrollLockOn Lalt A-Z,0-9, F1-F12>
    <sendpc local>
    <SendLabel w3,W4, W5>
    <key %TriggerMainKey%>
    I cannot *for the life of me* see how that's done in keyclone.

    ... also, it appears that HotKeyNet intercepts my ALT-3 key BEFORE it gets sent to ANY window, and thus my Pally does not try and heal himself with the default spell in slot 3.

    It appears that keyclone does not behave this way.

    Allow alt-3 to be passed and have it bound to an empty slot on your main? *shrug*

    Maybe i'm just doing it wrong ... Does everyone unbind the keys they send to their alts? Is that how most people are multiboxing? Feedback please ...

    This is mainly, because HKN and Keyclone use internaly a different concept, hkn is a 'hotkey-program' (which can be used for keybroadcasting, but is not neccessary used for that) and Keyclone is a keybroadcaster (which can be used as an hotkey program for some things).
    To illustrate more what i mean, i show the main function of hkn and keyclone:

    HKN:
    When a key is pressed HKN evaluates if this key is defined as an 'Trigger' for an <Hotkey..>definition, and if its so the action defined is executet. This action doesn't have to do anything with multiboxing, thus it can be for example be simply starting winamp...

    Keyclone:
    When keyclone recieves a key its main goal is to broadcast it to all 'registered' windows (after checking whit/black-list).

    And this is why you have problems: keyclone broadcasts to every associated window.
    Only thing how you can change what is broadcasting is by using 'keymaps/hotstrings', but even then you the toon which pressed the 'key', like 'alt + l' would always recieve 'alt+l'.

    My suggestion to 'solve' this simply would be, if you need some keyclone speciffic features:
    Run keyclone of the general broadcasting and use HKN for the needs you described.

    Alt is set up as the default self heal button, which is why your pala is trying to heal himself.

    I'll admit to not making much use of the blacklist (only my movement keys 'wasd' are on there) and none of the whitelist and keystring functions yet, so apologies if the following won't be useful to you.

    How I'd set it up is by making macros to process the commands how you want them done. This may be a bit long-winded for what you're looking for though.

    Firstly, check the keybindings on your alts to make sure they don't already have anything bound to shift <key> for whichever keys you want them to use.

    Then I'd make the following macros for each toon (example)
    On button 3:
    Paladin
    /stopmacro [mod:shift][mod:alt]
    /cast Holy Light

    Mages
    /stopmacro [nomod:alt]
    /target <paladin>
    /assist
    /cast Fireball

    Priest
    /stopmacro [nomod:shift]
    /target <paladin>
    /assist
    /cast Smite (or whatever the priest is doing )

    The way I set up my 5 man group was to have some generic tanking buttons on my paladin which also triggered a macro on the dpsers to do various things (mine were different classes), the healer then does stuff with modifiers, or with a seperate button if needed. As you'll see below my 5 box didn't get too far though :P
