Quick question that I have about boosting?

Im not really sure that it would fall into the same realm of questioning but I figured I would ask. Once I get my 5 shammys to 80 (probably next Thursday/Friday) I have chosen to either make a Pally or a DK for my tank (Leaning toward DK) So my question is this. Would it be best if I leveled him out of group (have him tag something and have the 4 shammys one hit whatever he is looking @) or would it be best if he was just put into the group with the other guys? Thanks in advance!

I'm currently using my shamans to level my DK and I thought about this exact thing... I did do what you're talking about (grouped everyone, set focus, set follow, ungrouped my DK, and started tagging everything before my shamans owned it).

What I found is that, while I do get more XP per kill, I'm slowed down in other areas. For instance, my shamans have MUCh further range than my DK for pulling, so I had to run a lot closer to everything to tag it. If I went fast enough I would run out of non-melee ways to tag something. Not being able to see my shaman's cast bars or see them on the minimap caused me to have to constantly swing the camera and make sure they were still following me, still casting, etc.

All said and done it didn't feel much faster at all - Questing was the majority of my XP not kills, so the actual XP/hr only went up by maybe 20k (not that much all said and done).

keep the DK out of group, have him do quests with the shamans assisting him.
