Default Level your main ahead of the rest!

Is there any reason people always want to keep their 5 characters at the same level, once you no longer get RAF xp?

Once I take this DK to Northrend with my 4 shamans I plan on doing pretty much EVERY quest for my DK, skipping the painful collection quests on my shamans. Besides the fact that this gives me more money, lets me experience more content, and will get more achievements on my main it will also level my "tank" ahead of everyone else, making instances easier as I hit them. Also once my main hits 80 even if my clones are 78, all the rest of the quests my main does will generate tons of money.

    Just curious for everyone else.

My only reason against this is I hate seeing quest markers and when I go to pick up the quests I find out my alts are to low level to take them yet.

I don't mind this - it saves time in the end and I can still pick up the quest and then share as needed, or just not pick it up if my alts are too low level. I like my main being higher level - it can also deter would be gankers.

If you do every zone (aka do both Borean Tundra and Howling Fjord before Dragonblight) and each instance at least once, you shouldn't run into the problem of your other 4 being too low for a quest.

But then again, there's the fun factor of having all five ding at the exact same time ;).

My paladin is about 2/3 of a level ahead my other three for the same reason. My reasoning mirrors yours exactly. Nothing wrong with the tank being highest level and I don't care if they ding together since my fifth toon is my solo-main, a 70 lock.

I never thought about it like that, even if you alternate doing collection quests every level to a new toon. Then I would not have to skip all the collection quests.

    Yep.

Collections on the main DK, so he's ahead of my other 4.

I like having all my toons around the same level b/c I don't want to repeat things. It just feels like a waste of time for me to go and level 1 toon at a time.

Ultimately, its most efficient if you do a given quest once, and then you're done with it.
A lot of the collection quests, which are a pain to do for five toons, open up subsequent killing quests.
If you collect with only one toon, then the others cannot do the follow up.

In the end, it doesn't matter how you get to 80th, as long as you enjoy the process; it is a game, afterall.

The way I look at it is - if I wasn't going to do those collection quests on all 5 characters anyway, but im going to be in the area the quest is in, it doesn't really take much ifa ny extra time to get that quest done on a single character, and only gives me more xp and gold than i would have had if i hadn't done it.
