Default Any way to set focus, focustarget, follow, etc, without being in a group?

    Heres the issue I'm facing...

I'm leveling my DK (67 now) with my 4 clone shamans following along. I group them all and use them just as if my DK is my main shaman. Works well, however I'm getting severely reduced XP. My thought is, it should be a lot faster to ungroup my 4 shamans, and do everything the exact same, just making sure to tag each mob with my DK before my shamans open up, and I should get way more XP! Except...last night I tried it, and focus didn't work. It was my understanding you could focus anything, enemy, player, groupmember, etc, but /focus Ellianaa did not work. Because of that, /follow focus did not work and /cast [target=focustarget] did not work.

Any way to get this to work or get a simple set up that will allow me to make my shamans help my DK without being in group?

Had this same issue myself. Do:

    Code:
    /target soandso
    /focus
That will set your non-grouped lead to the focus. Keep in mind, focus based heals will still not work, but it will get your dps and follow macros running. Also, if you get out of visual distance from the focus, it will clear the focus.

    1) Join group
    2) Set focus to character
    3) Character leaves group
    4) Focus stays \o/

Another way to do this is making a macro like below and calling that everytime before you start DPS'ing (assuming that your cast macros also work without focus ... they should!)
    /target Johndoe
    /target targettarget

Does that work when Soandso isn't in your party?

Awesome - so target=focustarget will work? I don't really need heals (and if i do ill just hit my invite button). This will help level me a lot faster I think.

It will focus soandso. I'm actually not sure if target=focustarget will work or not, as I think I've got it set up as /assist focus at the moment.

Edit: Upon further thought, target=focustarget and target=focus should both work. I was thinking of my character specific macros which don't work outside of party. Sorry about the confusion.
