Wotlk Pre-Raid / Pre-Heroic Gear List

I think the intention is that Prot Pallies can use either Warrior tanking gear, or Holy Paladin Spell+ gear. Otherwise, you have an entire class of plate gear that is only good for one spec of one class. Personally, I'd just be annoyed by the wasted +spirit on the stuff myself, but its not like you can't throw on +spell power to your tankadin and still get use out of it.

I don't think they intended prot pallies to use any +sp / holy gear from looking at the wotlk itemization and class changes. You need both AP and SP for the prot spell ineup. You also need defense and block rating. Str gets you AP and block rating, stam gets you SP. There are very few (pre-naxx at least) items with +block, and none of them have int / sp. There are lots of +defense items, and all of them are stam / strength.

So if you choose to wear any int / sp item your losing out on defense, block rating, and AP and all you get in return is extra TPS for only some of your abilities. If it were just 1 or 2 temporary items it would be OK, but you would not be able to gear for heroics or raiding with any int / sp gear.

This is great. Alltho, i think you shoud delete the greens wich are way below others statswise, unless all the others are from instance.

Also, if this list is gonna be AWSOME, you need to keep it up - All of it.

The only thing that get's much threat generation from SP anymore is Holy Shield so I don't recommend ANY SP gear. Just get Touched by the Light talent and roll wicked.

Well, the inclusion of lower level items is so they can be obtained while leveling up - this isn't a "what to get at level 80 list", it's more "what non-raid/heroic slot can I upgrade between 70 and 80". I left the variety of same level items also because you may hate a particular instance, the quest may be a collection, etc.

And, tbh, it's not intended to be AWSOME - it's just to help find basic pre-raid / pre-heroic gear while leveling. I make lists like this for all my toons and once a week or so I look at their worst slots, look at the list for the easiest item to obtain, and go quest / instance grind / farm mats to get the items. This way I can completely ignore quest rewards and just pick one to vendor because I already know if I need the item or not. I do this for myself, but thought posting the basic lists I use may help someone else.

That said, rep items must be added and I will be doing that this weekend, along with my resto mail list (most the searches done, I just need to run it through my formatter to make it postable). I haven't done my mail or cloth dps lists yet.
