Default Question about using WoW installation for multiboxing and singleboxing

Now that WoW saves keybindings and macros serverside I'm finding it real easy to setup a new team.

However I've run into a different problem - how do I have one toon with different keybinds/macros/graphics settings for multiboxing and soloing?

i.e. I have a lvl 70 I've been using for boosting and now I want to solo level it to 80 while still using it for occasional multibox boosts as I level my multibox team to 70.

Previously I had two copies of wow with different keybinds and macros in the WTF folder but can I do this with multiple installations of wow now that data is server side? Are there other settings that will help?

What keywords should I search on? Profiles? Settings?

There is a slash command to disable server side macro's.
Not sure what it is off the top of my head, but should be fairly easy to find if your macro's/bindings worked when they were client side.

Depending how you set up your assist, you could modify your macro a little.

    For example...
    #show
    /cast [target=party1target] [] Spell Name........ -- or -- /cast [target=focustarget] [] Spell Name

    I believe that will work.
Basically the macro attempts to assist the party leader or the current focus target.
If that condition fails, then it attempts the next condition, which [] automatically reads as true for anything.
So if the first condition fails, the spell casts normally as if there aren't any conditions.

The macro could then run in both a multibox and solo setting.

If you use `/cast [target=focustarget] ...` in your macros, then you can just set yourself as the focus when soloing and not change anything else.

Sorry guys but you're not answering my question. I already know about using focus and [] to allow macros to function equally well when solo or multi.

I'm talking about having a _completely_ different setup for soloing - different keybinds, totally different macros, and fullscreen maxxed graphics as opposed to a 1024 window with min settings

i.e. The sort of thing you used to be able to do by having seperate installations of WoW for soloing and multiboxing

    Um.. answered your question exactly.

With Symlinking you have a single full install of Warcraft.
You then have copy/paste additional copies of warcraft.
Each of these copies, you delete the data and cache folders for sure, optionally the interface and screenshot folders too.
So the copies end up being very small with comparatively no space taken up on the drive.
Parent install 9 GB. Symlink copy 100mb.

You can have a SymLink with the addons and settings however you want them to be.
For example a solo wow.exe which is run with 137 addons and every warcraft setting to maximum.

Another set of SymLink folders for multiboxing with minimal graphic settings, reduced frames per second and a lot fewer addons.
These copies have smaller resolution or whatever.

Each SymLink copy of the original has the options/settings/graphics/addons etc independently set from any other copy.

When it comes time to patch, you just patch the original install, and every copy (SymLinked Folder) is up to date.
