Default So the WoWwiki exp formulas is wrong?

    Solo Experience Modifiers
The experience amounts given above assume that the solo character and their pets have done 100% of the damage to kill the mob. Experience will be reduced when:

Someone else (ungrouped) helps to damage the mob. The XP you receive depends on if that someone else will receive xp for killing that mob. If yes, you get full XP. If not, you get a tiny fraction. It doesn't matter how many other ungrouped help damage nor how much damage you done.
Example: You're 6th level fighting a 6th level mob. If the ungrouped helper is level 10 or lower damage the mob, you will get full XP because a character level 10 or lower can receive XP from a 6th level mob. If the ungrouped helper is level 11 or higher, you get a tiny fraction of the XP.

    http://www.wowwiki.com/Formulas:Mob_XP

Someone else (ungrouped) helps you by healing you in mid fight. This will cost you only a few XP points per heal.
Your damage shields do significant damage to the mob. This is usually a small loss, 5-10 XP points at worst.
The effect of this is that power-leveling low levels is much less effective than at higher levels. It is faster for low levels to kill without help, than it is to powerlevel them. It also makes it hard to determine the solo XP for high level mobs, since you won't get an accurate number unless the character does 100% of the damage.

The way to power-level is to be near the character level you're power-leveling. Thus, a 49th character will be much more effective than a 70th character in power-leveling a 40th level character. More effective would be multiple 49th characters power-leveling the 40th level character.

That guy that was the first to 80 said that out of group damage will effect the amount of exp you get, the more damage the tagger (and thus the tagging team) does the more exp they get:

    http://www.warcraftmovies.com/movieview.php?id=94893

In fact it was a lot 2300 with just tagging and doing like one point damage to 4000 something when you do almost all the damage.

I'v noticed the same level mobs giving me different exp at different times.

I guess "helping" people by blasting a mob with 25 guys after they tag it isnt really helping lol ....

Lets say one guy tags and he does 50 percnet damage and some other ungrouped guy does 50 percent damage. The guy that didnt tag get no exp and the guy that tags gets like 60percent or so of what he would of if the outside guy didn't help? So together they "lost" 40percent of the max exp the mob could give.

So then why did the guy who leveled to 80 first want outside DPS? Why didnt he have outside healing only? In other words go into the instance with buffer clasees (to make him stonger) and healers. Or is that what he did got "moon and something" and "aspect of the pack" and some other buffs only from the 3 non healers, to only improve his dps and not for them to do dps themselves, looks to me like they did some damage though.

His partners got zero exp the whole time so that means when the mobs died he was not grouped. Is there any reason to be grouped when you tag the mobs, I guess not. What if the dps buffs are group only?

From what I understand, the guy that Athene helped got banned and reverted back to 70 for exploiting. Athene's "old method" of instance hopping in-and-out of group was also nerfed.

The guy that DID make it to 80 "first" after him used just a healer out-of-party. Which means he did 100% of the damage to get his XP.

MMO-Champion: You reached the max level 27 hours after the european servers went online, that's pretty fast even if you spend all your time leveling ... Could you tell us how you achieved that ?
Nymh: The idea first came up when I saw this post from Jynxx. The idea looked nice and I decided to run a few tests on beta servers. It took about 3 hours to level from 78 to 79 and considering that it was one of the longest level, it seemed good enough to use this strategy to powerlevel at the release.

The biggest problem was to find a spot with enough monsters to grind without too much downtime ... I spent some time on beta servers and eventually found the crypt in Drakil'ji Ruins (Grizzly Hills), I think that's one of the only place in Wrath of the Lich King where monsters repop in about 30 seconds, mobs here are also neutral and it makes grinding a little safer.

I also had to optimize my downtimes and decided to level with a healer out of party, Pavelomm was nice enough to spend the last 27 hours healing me without taking any XP and he obviously played a huge role in the process.

When I reached level 76 I realized that my leveling speed was slightly lower than what I experienced in beta, I decided to change the template from the original post and switched to something with 2 points in Shadow Mastery to make my DoTs stronger and the leveling a bit easier. (It usually takes 2 DoTs to kill a monster)

MMO-Champion: The first level 80 was supposed to be Darus, a paladin who did some powerleveling in instances with Athene and a few other people and eventually got suspended by Blizzard at level 79. (and reseted to level 70 a few hours later) Did you hear about him ?
Nymh: Yeah I had a few people monitoring other servers to give me updates about the situation here, I don't really know how Darus did that but I assume it will be hotfixed by Blizzard very soon.

MMO-Champion: Is there anyone you want to thank ?
Nymh: Sure ! There are a bunch of people who helped a lot with my leveling.

    • Pavelomm was nice enough to stay with me for the last 27 hours and managed to keep me alive for all this time!
    • Pratax originally planned to level with me but couldn't be here due to last minute work obligations, he helped me a lot during beta when I was planning everything.
    • Ardanell / Bro / Zhazha were nice enough to run all the way to Grizzly Hills to teleport me to Ironforge and let me train my new spells without wasting too much time.
    • Coralie, who was nice enough to buy me the game 2 days ago!

And of course, the whole Genesis guild and all the players from Drek'thar-EU!

WoWWiki formulae are all based off of experimentation. Vast, vast amounts of experimentation. And it's user-updated -- so IF anything does change or isn't thought of, it's not likely to be in the formulae.

Athene & co was not entering an instance with 2 groups. there was only 5 people including Darus.
First of all they enter the instance. Then Darus leaves the group and tag alot of monsters, Athene and the others who are still in the group kills the monsters and Darus gains 100% XP and all the loots. Then they invite him back again.

The reason they invited him back again was so that he would not be kicked from the instance or because he gets the benifit of group only dps buffs?

Oh ok I got my answer:

Duras and friends was indoors leveling (instance) they where 6 ppl (first exploit) duras left grp and tagged all mobs without beeing in party and the other 5 ppl dpsed them down so duras got all the xp (second exploit) they uninvited a party member so duras didnt get teleported to his HS location (third exploit) and again they uninvited duras so the other party member they uninvited did not get teleported (same as the third exploit, so basicly, fourth exploit)

Errr I guess others are saying there was only 5 people (the video is such garbage resolution I cant tell but seems 5 to me).

Well this is out of hand:

shouldnt be a prob, atleast I dont under stand why you should get banned for geting invited then leave groups XD. The tagging after WotLK was bugged / changed, because before WotLk you got xp on how much dmg you did to the mob, but now after you get full xp even if you only take 1% dmg and tag them.
-got to lvl 79 in 13hours /17hours. (Im not sure)

So well umm I think I just run my own tests.

The main problem I see with Athene's group is that Darus tagged the mob and then went off to tag other mobs while others actually killed the tagged mobs. It wasn't actually Darus killing the mobs. Add in the invite and leave group mechanics used it just seems a lot cheaper and very quest

I see humm ... Thats why a boxer wasn't first.

Why is it a bug? Because hes getting full XP for just tagging them. If he did it outside of the instance it he would get like 2 xp cause all he did was tag it. Now lemme ask you, why do you get reduced xp for just tagging outside of an instance, but you get full xp for the instance? Cause it's an exploit, and it has already been fixed prior to Wotlk. It just happen to re-surface into wotlk.

Ahh more infos, full exp in instance, minimal exp outside of instance hummm ...
