Default Hunters in my 10-box setup

    Hi all,

After going over the damage calculations (albeit, they are early calcs) and strengths of end-game shaman, I'm thinking about dropping a couple (maybe 3) of my shaman and adding in some Hunters instead. Can anyone tell me more about the Hunter, especially as it pertains to multiboxing? I'm by no means a Hunter expert, but I understand the class, its strengths, and the weaknesses. I'm also interested in going 53/18/0 (@ 80) down the beast mastery tree so that I may train exotic pets on all three of the hunters. If anyone has any thoughts or comments, I would appreciate them.

My new 10-box composition would be: 3 Hunters (3 Exotic Pets), 1 Priest, 2 Mages, 1 Druid, 2 Pallys, 1 Shaman.

    Thank you.

my new team has 3 hunters in it and wow they are just insane if i knew that hunters were going to be this godly i probably would of just rolled 5 to start with, if you spec your hunter for tanking pets, real tanking gorillas with all the decent talents, they will out aggro my prot spec'd paladin (so i changed the paladin to ret now)

They hold aggro very well piss easy to heal, (they take somthing stupid like 50% more healing with talents) have a cosntant hot on them healing with spirt bond, you can spam mend pet no problems, this keeps the hp up very nicely, spam it just make a macro that stops you from putting it on more than once every 15 seconds. Judgement of light from the paladin will heal them for an insane amount, if you need outside healing from an actual healer it will be if just one pet is getting all the aggro which does happen, or your on a boss trash your not going to have a problem with.

Atm hunter pets are godly, (not sure how tuned this will be for 80, but from what ive read that they should be able to offtank bosses if spec'd for it and i really do see this a possibility) i dont think you can go wrong.

you gimp you dps by haveing 3 tanking pets, but they do a great job tanking and less healing is needed my shaman the healer heals once in a blue moon if all the group is takeing damage or the paladin agro'd.

[align=left]I added a hunter to my team. I would suggest using at least one hunter as a mana battery on the survival tree if you like to do raiding, because they're easier to work with than shadow priests. Hunters are a great asset and once you get the main macro for !auto shot and steady shot the rest is simple.

I have 5 hunters and LOVE them. I have 2 sets of pets, one DPS one tank. I use 1 wolf, 1 flyer in both, then hyena, tallstrider and wasp in DPS and 3 gorillas in the tanking set. They pretty much take care of themselves. The DPS pets can heal themselves to 100% every 3 mins. And self-res (broken, but still available in macros) every 10 mins and heal 5% every 5th hit (20% chance). The tanking pets have 40% extra healing done to them. I really wouldn't know what to do if I had to give them up. I just wish warlocks pets were as strong and useful. I can 5 hunter just about anything (have never stepped in a heroic). And even if 2 pets die, no biggie, just res and you don't even have to feed them since mend pet (with glyph), growl (on tenacity) and attacks (ferocity) raise their happiness. I haven't fed my pet since before 3.0.2 and I have had about 10 pets deaths on each (PVP and trying to do too much). Good luck.

Default I love my hunters too

I have one shaman healer and 4 hunters and they are awsome. They took Durn the Hunger down without too much effort at level 66, lost one pet I think.
hunters are probably less work than shaman because of the auto fire.
I have my "Big" bang button as 3, it casts trinkets and any pets spells, another button to round robbin the hunters mark and set target.
I only use the hunters mark stuff for instances and I set each pet on a different target and they smoke stuff down.

I think you will like having hunters.

I dont have much experience (my hunter/priest team just dinged 70 like 3 days ago), but I dropped survival and went bmx3, mmx1 on my team.... The survival dps was so pitiful (like 60% of the BM dps) that it wasnt worth the extra mana gain. Mind you this was questing with green and blue gear, so raiding might be different. I'm sure Survival can be effective, but my feeling atm is that it needs much more attention than MM or BM given the number to trap related talents etc.

    Default BM hunter spec x5

My crew turned 70 last Friday so I figured I'd test out Black Morass to see how the 5 Hairy Paladins could hold up (quest greens and blue gear). After a wipe just after the first boss ( I was admittedly freaking out some that I took him down losing only 1 gorilla and wasn't paying attention to the next portal), I was able to clear BM. Doing that I figured I should try for the Kara key quest chain which I did along with Shattered Halls key and getting the 4 pieces of Scourge epic gear with very few wipes during the week (taking aggro from the gorillas was nearly impossible).

The gorillas can take relatively so much damage with only the benefit of pet heals, I had to test the limits in the nerfed Kara. The gorillas can tank a single target trash horse (as far as I got) fairly easily, as soon as 2 mobs focus on a single gorilla the hunter heals can't keep up. The 3 mob pulls in the stables handed me my hat. I am going to fix my pet macros to split up the tanking assignments better, but my guess is that a 70 gorilla (or 5 for that matter if they get killed off one by one) won't hold up to a Kara boss.

I'll drop my priest in to see if the HOTs will get the pet through a boss fight. My first impression is that it will be a stretch at best.
