Yeah I'm not sure whats hard to understand about that. Every time you use a shock spell you get XX bonus spell damage for 6 seconds. You can then cast another shock spell to get the bonus for another 6 seconds.

This is a change introduced in patch 3.0.2. Shaman totems that go in the Relic slot now can act to replace the need for carrying your Air Totem, Earth Totem, etc. (the ones you get from the Shaman quests to learn totems of each elemental school). I.e., you can put them in the bank and get back 4 inventory slots. You still can't destroy those quest totems, but I'm much happier with them in the bank then in my bags.

One of these three:

• Deadly Gladiator's Totem of Survival. You can shock every 6 seconds (at least) - if you do anyway, it's constant and affects Lava Burst.
• Totem of Hex. Hex has obvious merits. How it will hold up with the new focus on Lava Burst, who knows, but it's still hot.
• Totem of the Elemental Plane. ToEP depends on what the rate is for that "chance" and on how much spell power you already have, but would beat the other two in good enough gear. But it would need a good proc rate, no internal CD, and for the crossover point in the DPS function to be for realistically obtainable stats.

It's a shame we get such lame totems imo. We won't be casting lb enough for this to proc enough as elemental dps now includes shocks and lava burst and quicker cd chain lightnings. The days of lb, lb, lb, cl are over.

Yup. Skycall plus some points minus some % from the higher character level...probably comes out to the same thing. Higher SP totals at 80 may make it more worthwhile. I think the proc on Skyfall was 15%ish.

And yeah, whoever dreamed these up wasn't being particularly creative. One that gives a self-only stacking debuff like from Scorch / Winter's Chill, or the DPS boost from DKs/Warlocks/Doomkin would be nice. It's calculated in already, so why not give it to us when we don't have one of those in our pocket? Or effects that give a similar DPS boost, but have a more "fun" tone.

I would use the deadly totem for PVE (seems great to combine with ES glyph) but definitely sticking with Venture Co. Lightning Rod for arena

conclusion: PVP for PVE and PVE for PVP
