ati hd 4850 sonic or 9800gtx?

Currently I have a C2D 2.19 Cpu, 2 gigs ram. And a suckie VGA card. I want add 2 gig more ram and then a good card either 4850 or 9800gtx. But amd currently cant make my mind on which one. Base on my configurations. Can I run a 5 x Shaman ok?

Well, I am sure both would do fine. I run 5 copies of wow simultaniously on an ATI 4670, they are all at max settings, high resolution (low ress for the other 4 but high settings). My video card is only at 60% capacity. The ATI4850 is light years ahead of my model so you should do terrific with it.


However, my CPU which is the same as yours is giving me insane problem. I had to overclock it by 1.2ghz, but ti still gives me problems. Its at 100% always and causes the game to lag.

2 gb of ram is WAY yoo low. You need at least 3.2 under XP, more if under vista. That 2gb of ram will kill your performance. (i have 4gb and get 700mb left after everything is open).



EDIT: I noticed you said you will upgrade your rams by 2gb. If it brings the total to 4gb, you shold do fine. The CPU is gonna be the real bottleneck.

But yes to answer your question, you can run 5 shamans just fine. You may need to lower the settings from max settings to low settings for it to work in the high fps region, but it should work just fine if your willing to run at low settings. To put it in numbers, i run all 5 copies at 90 fps at low settings. When 1 is at max and the others are at low, i run at 25fps on the max and 50fps on the low settings.

Thanks guys, I am off to get the card, think I will get the 4850, as I read it is on par with 9800gtx but cheaper.

Ended up buying http://www.palit.biz/main/vgapro.php?id=975, my friend told me it is more then enough for my need as it turn out to be true. And much more happy about the graphics now. 8)
