Well just a couple weeks ago 2 new realms came out on the EU servers, i decided as i was pretty bored with not a whole lot to do before wrath to give makeing a new team ago, my accounts were just about to have the RAF link expire (which ive had since the first day of the raf change had to buy 3 new accounts to get 5 linked). I rolled 4 troll shaman to start with (my first ever boxed team was 5 troll shaman on ghostlands eu so nothing too new about this group), i was one of the first people to get to 20 on the realm, so well ahead of everyone else i went to bed.

Btw i would just like to point out that nearly every single person on this realm is boxing, everyone is playing 2 characters to take advantage of the RAF its a good 25% of the server doing this, i saw one other multi-boxer playing 5 druids but i think he stopped in the 40s

Anyway back to the story, after a night of seriously thinking about what to do with the new realm i decided to roll a pve team of alliance (alliance like most of my newer characters/box teams all are) and make a stab at getting the scarab lord title.

I spent a while thinking about the team set up to basically tackle the oldschool raids, i figure this can be done with 5 level 80s no problem but as i have now got 9 accounts i should just as well make 9 characters and box the lot.

I made a team of 1 paladin 1 shaman and 3 hunters, BM hunters pets are pretty insanely overpowered, they have no problem tanking bosses and packs of mobs in instances and hold aggro very well, post 60 not so much though but cant see this being a problem seeing how they are simply going to be vinilla raid off tanks.

after i got the group to 60 i leveled 3 priests and a mage to 31.9 and gift leveled them up to 60.9 due to how i linked the accounts (it wasnt a nice chain) i had to use a paid character transfer on one of the characters to be able to gift him.

now with 1 day to go till wrath i have the main group nearly level 65 and the others untouched at 60.9

If i dont get the mount i feel alot of the work will probbably be in vain.

Im not sure if anyone has ever tried this before with a group but would be interesting to know if anyone has or could give some suggestions.

NEW servers that are NOT transfer servers (IE everyone starts at level 1 and you can't xfer to the server) start with the AQ gates CLOSED. This is why you see rerollers constantly crying for new servers.

Alrighty then, thanks for the correction. What about the war effort event? Doesn't the server collectively have to acquire a (mind boggling amount) of resources to unlock the gate opening event? Or does it auto-complete after a set amount of time?

AFAIK Its the full event that the server has to go through. Its a huge endeavor if someone has never had the chance to go through the event. It NOTHING like the SSO event.

im really hopeing that at level 80 BWL is trivial and could nearly be done 5 man

ideally i do this as a boxing project but if it comes to the crunch and i cant manage with 9-10 characters on my own then i will seek out help from guildies.

but all new realms have the gates closed for up to 90 days then they are open for character transfers to the realm and the war efforts are considered complete reguardless of how much effort players have put in, so normally what normally happens is after the 90 days are up noones ready for it and someone transfers to the realm and ninja rings the gong gets the mount and waits for transfer cooldown and then returns to their old realm.

the realms opened up on the 24th of oct so i have til late jan to get it done, provideing someone on the realm doesnt beat me to it ;(

Sorry dude, I'm going to go with it won't happen and someone will ninja it. Good luck with trying to get people to go to old raids with wotlk out. The war effort is huge if it needs to be done and the quest chain is no small thing either. BWL also isn't the easiest raid I'm afraid

I'm wondering if the first boss in BWL (as soon as you zone in) is do-able with one person? (Razorgore the Untamed).

Its a two phase encounter.

Phase 1 - One player must mind control Razorgore and run around the room destorying eggs. This takes time. The rest of the raid must kite or kill adds that spawn during phase one. There can be a total of 40 adds spawned at once.

Phase 2 - once the last egg is destroyed, Razorgore breaks free of the mind control and the tank must pick him up quickly. Its tank-n-spank from here.

2nd boss is a DPS race - Nothing too silly. You either can or can't do this one.

Then the 3rd boss encounter, the suppression room. Anyone tried this WITHOUT a pair of rogues to disable the traps? I don't think its possible honestly. (This is where you get the head, to start the rep grind to get the quest to actually get a chance to ring the AQ gong)

I can tell you now from recently boxing BWL that the first boss is soloable (mboxer solo style that is), 2nd boss maybe if you dont get the debuff on the tank, 3rd boss not without rogues. You need movement for the 3rd boss to avoid lots of dmg (ony cloaks removes a lot of it, so with those would be possible) but cast time would be sooooooo long. Would take like an hour to down the boss haha.

i dont think its going to be any harder than doing anything else in this game just have to practice and make adjustments.

for the first phase of razorgore it will only spawn about 40 elites and 12 dragonkin, i would think that a level 80 prot paladin could handle tanking all of this, just concentration aura, no reflective skills want to cause no damage just be high on the aggro enough to hold all the targets and stay above the other healers while you spam heals on yourself. (killing the adds spawns more). razorgore has to open the eggs ( 1 per 10 seconds) so you only have to move him every once in a while to a new egg, so can swap between that and clearing the room.

main reason i took shadow priests over another ranged dps was to take advantage of the VE healing i think alot of encounters this will help alot, healing while dpsing is a huge plus for vael the second boss which like you said is a dps fight, and im pretty sure he can be dps'd down almost, before 45 seconds when he starts causeing problems.

granted i havent really looked into all of the encounters but its going to be fun to give them ago and try and do this.

theres nothing anyone can say on here thats going to stop me trying this i just hope that i have it ready soon as possible i have no idea what the /played time 70-80 is like and ill need to do that with all my characters, then its getting all the attunements and keys shouldnt take too long, the elementium ore could take up to 5 resets of bwl so i need to at least have razorgore down and on farm before christmas otherwise ill never stand a chance of doing this before the transfers are open, i will even try to split the group into 2 and try five maning razorgore for more chances to get the elementium ore, then i need to get the 300 skill in fishing and cooking (fun...) for another part of the chain.


atm i really dont care about what wrath has at end game as ill probably have another 2 years to play with that till the next expansion comes out this is a once off, and could really be a real achivement, which is why i want to do it.

To DPS down Vael before your tank blows up, you need something north of 60K sustained raid DPS I think. I don't think it's possible even with Essence of the Red.
