I have a very simple system I follow. Anyone who badmouths me immediately gets reported AFK by every single one of my toons. They get the debuff (it only takes "3 reporters" to put the debuff on someone). Then they start screaming in raid "omg whos the <random curseword> who reported me AFK????".

I don't say anything. I just keep reporting them AFK every few minutes until the BG is over. I ignore any whispers. If they curse in bg chat, I report them with the GM tool - you almost always get a 3 hour ban for swearing in game.

Saying they are afk if they are not is basically a lie and an abuse of the system - and you think that's good - people should report you for that...

If they are bad mouthing you they aren't doing anything to win the game, hence they may as well be afk, thus reportable.

I personally don't have any problems with abuse in BGs, I just laugh at it and insult right back, mostly with childish come backs lol. It's good to turn insults into a laugh imo :P

What's this GM tool for reporting people? Is it different to opening a ticket? Because I really can not be bothered opening a ticket just to report swearing.

I think that's it, yeah.

I'm also pretty sure the usual response to a "zomg someone's swearing!" ticket is "zomg, enable the profanity filter!" The exceptions are if they're deliberately circumventing it (exploiting) or continuously harassing the same person either using alts to circumvent ignore or by going at it behaviorally (harassment, exploiting), either of which will get 'em some penalty (warning/temp ban/permaban) depending on history.

Not that I work for Blizz CS or anything.

"Turn your profanity filter on" is not an acceptable excuse to swear. If you swear to or part of an insult, or found offensive, it is reportable. The profanity filter can be turned off so that you may use coarse language when chatting with friends, it is not there so you can swear at people and they only see $%&@.

I don’t do this now as i like to keep a low profile as possible in bg's but i was single boxing and someone use to complain about been reported afk i would suggest to them to type "/afk report" to see who reported them........funny as hell when they did. Chat channel would erupt with lol etc

Even funnier (and this is going back to the really bad afk problem days) i managed to get 22 people to leave a av with that.....

I remember when people first started doing this (same with that BRD teleport thingie) and you would see mass people leaving the BG. Funny as fuck. Shame now it is reportable lol, it really was a kinda idiot remover.

I would say "stop caring", but since that's not so easy: turn off the chat (e.g. make a new chat tab and switch to that).
