Default Gathering Profession, Reputation, and weapon skill

    Hello,

    1. When dualboxing with RAF triple XP bonus, how do you find gathering profession skill ups? I'm still level 9 now so I haven't had much trouble skinning and mining copper nodes. But my concern is that I would reach 60 way before my mining hits 300 and then I can't mine Fel Iron ore. Same thing with skinning. What's the best balance between killing mobs and skilling up?

    2. Also with reputation, because you complete less quests, how's your Old World reputation look? Right now on my main, I'm exalted with Undercity at 999 simply through questing. It's nice because then I get all sorts of discounts. But when you're leveling up at triple speed, how will your reputation look?

    3. LAstly, weapon skill. Is this gonna be an issue? Will I reach level 60 with far inferior weapon skill?

    Thank you

I just ran up a pair of shammies to lvl 60. Have spent the last 2-3 evenings working up my professions.

The skinning and herbing were not an issue, the enchanting and mining lagged behind.

Weapon skills are not a problem. Not sure how many you are boxing, but I just made sure my second one stepped up and "whacked" some too.

Reputation lags behind. I am revered with my faction, but not exalted. Other factions I am honored on mostly... I didn't spend much time going to the other starting areas to get their easy rep quests, but I am going to outlands, so I will worry about my rep there instead...

Thank you. I am dualboxing at the moment, so it seems like I should just do herbing with my main, and skin with the follower. That leaves 1 other slot for crafting professions later on. These shouldn't be a problem as long as I have money.

As for factions, revered is good enough. Sure I only get 15% discount rather than 20% but it's better than no discount at all.

As for weapon, right now I'm doing pally/priest. So I just want to make sure my pally 2h skill is on par with his level. For priest, I don't really care :P

    Thanks for the response.

I didn't even waste time with professions and my rep never went beyond honored(leveled four shaman for one group with RAF and a pally, priest, mage, lock for another group with RAF). Now i want to go back and level it but with WoTLK around the corner and my four Shammies at 67.5, I doubt I'll ever have time to get their gathering up to a respectable level. X( However...I made a tailor and with all the instances I've been running(and gaining 100% of the drops) my tailor and enchanter are almost to 300. I hope once Wrath comes out and peeps get their inscription up that gathering mats go down in price.

farm ores at level 60. you will probably breeze through most areas without drawing aggro.
if you're unning low on cash for spells, just take a few hours out and mine. doesnt take too long. everything you mine is sellable.
with skinning though, you might want to level it while you're killing beasts.
dont worry too much about money until later on.
for gear, quest rewards are fine. instance drops are fine too. it will get you to 60 no problem.
also, weapon skill is fine. no need to catch up unless you do the "grant level" thing.
rep for me is exalted with tranquilien, honored/revered with the reest.
no need for discounts really unless you're buying big ticket items.

On my server it was faster to rush my way to 70 then do dailies and buy things you need and go back to mine/herb your way from 70.

Even thought i missed some nodes during my leveling i belive that in the end its alot faster since i have epic mounts and dont have to be bothered by pulling mobs all the time.

My proffesion list looks like this atm:

    1: Herb/mining
    2:Enchanting/tailoring
    3.Inscription/ (leatherworking?)
    4.Jewelcrafting
    5. (maybe skinning)

The plan i guess is to take skinning on the 5th since i dont want to use him for rep (due to taking a RL friend with me on heroics from time to time.)

The supreme plan is to open a mega shop now that you can paste out your list of what you can craft just by shift clicking your proffesion.

Each time i display the shop is open everyone knows were and know i can be well trusted.

Imagine if your able to do 3 jobs per minute you can charge 25 gold for..

Currently on my 3 box shaman I have:

Main :: herb/skinning (as to not worry about switching screens)

    Alt1 :: Alch/Inscript

    Alt2 :: Leatherworking/Tailoring

With this setup I can cover all bases with elemental. Crafting some spell dmg gear here and there with leatherworking, having tons of potions/elixers farmed, self sufficient with glyphs (they still run 50g+ each currently) and scrolls and even craft the enchantment threads for all my alts.

Also, I do have 3 other mains I play, including a prot pally, resto/feral druid and mage, all of which currently are miners, and one of which is an enchanter.

So I'm covered on all bases =)

ok Thanks for the responses. It looks like:

    1. Don't worry about rep. The only thing worth worrying the discount over is the epic ground mount, but even then the discount is less than a daily's worth at level 70.
    2. Skinning and weapon skill WILL be able to keep up even with fast leveling speed.
    3. Herb and Mining will not, so looks like I'll have to go back farm herbs and mining nodes at level 70 (or even 80 lol)

I am 65 now on my 2 shammies...

I went back and caught up the mining skill before I went to outlands. It took many hours, but I had the herber with me, so I made lots of money (Which I "wasted" on enchanting/LW skillz on other toons, should have bought fast mounts, but that is a story for another time!) That was a major pain in the butt. But I think it was worth it. It seems to be keeping up okay now that I am 65 and over in Zangermarsh, I think I am about 335.

The herbing will definitely keep up, I think I am 370 and just finishing Zanger to head to TForest. The skinning will probably do very well depending on traffic in Hellfire. I hit some luck on Ravagers and Hellboars, and was at 360+ before I went to Zanger...

If you are worried about mining, I would buy ores and smelt them each time you learn a skill that way you can stay above the curve. So when you first start at 1 buy some copper ore and smelt that to 40, iron at 125, mitril at 175... This will make sure you can mine any nodes you see and cut down on the total number of nodes you have to mine. I wrote a guide, it's too expensive to probably do it all the way but great way to level fast.
