I'll be trying my hand at the feat of strength. I was in the first 10 to 70 on my server when TBC hit so I think I have a decent chance, and while the group exp hit might slow me down, I think my team might help me out when it comes to group quests. I have 7 days off starting thursday, so we'll see how that goes.

If you can get ahead of the curve, the leveling is a lot easier.

If you were in the beta you have an idea of a progression.
A questing guide is the same idea; they were in the beta to plan the route.
Some like the guides, some cannot stand them, so this is not for everyone.

I personally plan to play 16 hours a day, until 80th on my first team.
Shaman x5, where one will be PvE spec and four will end up PvP spec.

The PvE will be my raider, so there when the rest of the guild catches up.
The PvP's will want to be amongst the first to Arena to be as far in the front as possible.
All will BG a lot, hopefully with a level advantage over many and hopefully attaining gear before the masses too.

Other teams I'll take my time with, read all the quest text (at least with 2nd team) and enjoy the process a lot more.
    I'll probably end up with:

    PvP/Raid = Shaman x5
Instances = Prot Pally, Dream Druid, Arcane/Fire Mage, Demon Warlock, Shadow Priest.
    Dailies/Farm = Hunter x5
Something different = Priest (Disc) x5 [RAF until 24th Dec]

Ideally I would like to instance some at the beginning but my 5 shamans
don't have all the uber epic gear everyone else has at 70 since I'm a
new 70, so I'm not sure I'll be able to solo any instances to the end.
    Guess I'll find out.
I thought the devs said they wanted people to be able to do the instances in greens and blues. I would think worst case is you need to do some of the starting quests then you should be fine to destroy some instances. Alot like it is now with hellfire. Trying to do ramparts without any upgrades from outland quests = hard with quest rewards = easy.

    Hey,

dunno where you got your information, but most if not all collection quests are skippable (with like 1 crappy follow-up).
    For leveling, follow this:

If you aren't haven't problems ganking, then questing is faster.
If you start having problems with ganking, but you don't have double XP, then questing = instance
If you have double XP, but don't have problems ganking, then questing = instance
If you have double xp but DO have problems with ganking, then Instance > Questing.
I find nowhere a list of the xp needed for each level nor any information about mob killing xp. Don't even know if they're following the same formula used for BC.
Read somewhere some time ago that rest experience will be "wiped" out/reset so all toons will have 0 rest.

In your opinion and as far as your experience (those that participated in Beta), what would be the /played for full instance grinding untill lvl 80? Do you have any data about how much xp/hour can we make grinding. Oc it depends on setup, gear, etc but just to have a notion, so I can have my mind made up when the 13th comes .

    Thank you.

    level XP
    70 1,523,800
    71 1,539,600
    72 1,555,700
    73 1,571,800
    74 1,587,900
    75 1,604,200
    76 1,620,700
    77 1,637,400
    78 1,653,900
    79 1,670,800
    80

Its actually fairly linear as you can see - 1.5 million from 70 to 71, and 1.6 million from 79 to 80. Its a total of around 15 million XP I believe, whereas TBC was somewhere around 6 million I think from 60-70.

You get 20k xp/quest average, a good TBC leveling pace would net around 60k xp/hour (unrested) or around 100 hours /played, which sounds right - if you played 10 hours a day at TBC launch it took around 10 days to hit level 70, people who played 16 hours/day took 6 days.

WOTLK will probably hit around 80-100k xp/hour or around 150-200 hours /played, so a little bit longer - 3 weeks at 10 hours a day, 2 weeks at 16 hours. Some will do it slightly faster i'm sure.

Remember that Season 5 isn't starting until Dec 16th.

Thank you so much for your reply.
Are you talking here about questing or instance grinding? Would it be about the same in your opinion assuming having a good instance grinding pace?

I don't know how hard instances are, My paladin is capped both in avoidance and defense, 15k hp, 623sp and 16k armor unbuffed. My four shaman have around 1.1k sp without totems and I'll be playing the 4 shaman with the paladin as my first group to level. Those that have tried the instances, will I be cutting butter with a hot knife?

    Edit*
By the way, this guy http://www.wow-pro.com/leveling_guid..._howling_fjord claims to be doing over 500k xp/hour. What do you think of it? Just the principle, oc.

Yeah I'm sure he can hit 500k xp/hour no problem, however he probably has done it a dozen times and has the exact paths memorized and I don't know if thats with rest XP. Solo is always tons faster than multibox when done with boosting (1-60) as well, I remember in TBC I was hitting 250k xp/hour in the high 60s but I never manage more than 40-50k xp/hour with my multibox team. Just looting quest items and turning in 5 times tends to kill our speed, not to mention we usually do stuff like skin/mine/herb/etc.

Its a good question about instance boosting, I wonder as well. I only played 2-3 hours at level 70 and a few hours at level 80 (premades, few heroics and naxx10/25) since I didn't want to "ruin" WOTLK by seeing too much. Does anyone know if any of the instances are like Auchenai Crypts, ie extremely difficult for multiboxers? I did see a guide to a few bosses a few weeks ago on this forum, it was very nice and detailed for MB'ers and none of the early instances seemed too hard.

My stats are similar to yours (prot pally + 3 shamans + 1 mage) and I was planning on instance boosting at first until I hit level 72, then questing through, rinsing and repeating as I move forward zone to zone. Hopefully that lets me avoid the initial quest-rush and I can pick up good rep/items. Just hoping there aren't any bosses that are like the big head in Crypts or the 2nd boss in MgT.
