Thread: My New UI

Did you realize that your interface takes up about 40% of your screen?
    [edit] Consider this:

    Titanpanel, XPerl UnitFrames, QuestHelper

(which took about 30 minutes to set up for all clients and probably an hour or 2 if you'd consider the other plugins that I tried in the past years)

I like that Cath UI for sure, very nice, but my experience with pitbull is that its really a hog costing like 4-5fps. But the Cath is like how I would do a UI. Note though you have a small minimap, no jamba, and no target of target from what I can see. But you have the grid thing which looks to be great for raid. I looked at that but it seems kinda like Jamba sort of. Also dont tell me that the maker of Cath didnt spend 20 or more hours getting everything just so, these really nice UI's dont just fall into place with no work. I gonna see what Cath uses for the chat screens though and rip those off muhahaha.

Ya my EQ ui is 18percent of the screen. My wow is much more... sadly. Well Im playing in 1280 X 960 to save cpu time (cept main is 1600 X 1200 so that both are 4:3 and I dont have to have different set ups for each), well I need jamba and thats like 10percnent right there. I would like to use up less but I like a big mini map and really like to see fast if my health is going down. I can reduce most everything if needed.

Kens UI would also be close to 40percent if you black out whats behind the text and add jamba, I dont see where its any advantage. I just prefer black behind my chat then some random colors.

I really like the X-Perl UnitFrames addon for party and raid members, because it shows you a lot of extra info (e.g. cast bars, targettargettarget, profile copying, buff filtering and lots more). I also use Jamba(I love it!) but the HUD interface is too limited for me.

Also, because my text 'windows' are transparent in my setup, they are sometimes(allbeit rarely) very difficult to read. I think I've been considering to give them a 20% transparent background or something.
Having a compact UI gives an advantage because you can see a lot better what is going on around you. Of course that's mostly useful in PvP, but less important in PvE, because PvE tends to have a more 'fixed' environment where you already know what is where.

Jamba looks hot, I'll have to check that out.

Some people like symettry (hell some can even SPELL it) some don't, I'm in the former.

I can appreciate the time it takes to setup stuff like this. It usually gets just hacked together or people don't realize how much time they really spend on stuff. If you're a contractor in any industry then your estimate is going to be a lot closer than someone who isn't. Then there's me, I work for a contractor but am horrible at time accounting. :-(

you can shrink (or even hide) the jamba list from the default (I made mine a lot narrower and used smaller font to take less space overall)

Thought I'd share my interface too

It's the first I've ever created myself, so be kind ... and yeah there are a lot of buttons

I do like wow's interface overall so wanted to keep most of that feel, but needed more buttons!

    Using:
    Bartender4
    Titan Panel
    ecastingbar
    eepanels2
    tiptac
    and jamba \o/

That looks clean enough. Ya you guys are button crazy, with 26 I have to keep things really on the simple. Your 2nd titan bar at the bottem is a waste. And I dont like portrats in the unit frams.

I added chatter make my chat things look a bit better, and as you can see all my stuff is running on the low cpu usage.

I only put spells on bars that i want to track the cooldown of, its much more effective to bind stuff directly to keys. If you happen to have your WTF folder corrupted or deleted, you still have all of your spells / keybinds / macros fully functional.

i'm now using that minimap addon, it's great

you're inevitably going to take up a fairly large % of the screen when you're tracking the health of 36 people and you love a large minimap, i got some good ideas from this interface

edit: interfaces with tons of buttons are for people who went from Solitaire to WoW. Bind shit, buttons are for cooldown notifications not clicking

Youve made me consider changing my minimap size

Just finished writing a program that ive made to help me manage keybinds with ease:

Im learning VB.NET at college so doing this was quite good practice, i think i might work it to include more features such as macros - doing the icons is the part that makes me not want to do that though.
