If anyone runs away from the totems because they see it..guess what? Thats good! The whole idea of the stun is to buy you time to deal with melee/mages or anyone in your face. If they run away, they are not in your face. If they stay, they die. I went into AV last night and single handily won our AV by porting back to our base and with a combo of thunderstorms, novas, I cleared everyone out of our bosses room and we won. We were about to lose. We did not have all the towers yet. They were on the boss. The stuns made that possible. I was able to TS>>kill a few..stun>>heal group..TS >>kill a few more. Basically round robin TS and FNT ftw!

Currently in 5v5 at higher ratings. I have about 2-4 seconds to kill 2-3 players of the opposing faction in order to win. After that 2-3 of my shamans will no doubt perish as I fail to kill anyone quick enough..
Ie. the ages it takes to wait for the totem now, despite having the stun, will not cut it for patch 3.0. I too would prefer a totem that blows in two seconds.
Anyhow, PvP is shit atm. Way too much burst. It's the final stages pre-tbc all over again. And it sucks because I was so close to s3 shoulds. :<
Slowly crawling back towards the experience that is Multiboxing Mayhem
I can agree somewhat that 2 sec blowup and slow was good too.. however this change does increase our survivability a lot.
Like Lyon pointed out, this is very good to run in round-robin in combination with Thunder, especially if you have a healer partner.
What I do is that I have 4 buttons dedicated to this rotation. On any press of these buttons, I will perform TS + FNT + CL + Frost Shock.
1. You immediately get melee range opponents off you.
2. Your targeted melee opponent is frost shocked and will take a long time to come back.
3. Any other melee opponents that return quickly will get stunned by the nova totem, buying you a lot of time to surive AoE stuns, AoE silence, burst damage.. etc.

I wish they would announce "how" they are going to give us "real" AE. They have said they want us to do real AE but are not sure how they will do it yet. I mean 4 or 5 shamans atm have good ae.. any better AEs and we will be that much more a force to be reckoned with 8)
I know that a single shamans ae is laughable. So if they buff it so that a single shaman can do serious ae..OMGx4/5!

I haven't tested if the totems are on diminishing returns.
I did make a macro, basically stole my thunderstorm macro, for normally round-robin the Fire-Nova's, but to dump them all if pressed with a modifier key.
#show Fire Nova Totem
/castsequence [nomod] Fire Nova Totem,,,,
/cast [mod] Fire Nova Totem
Whether someone is hit by the stun or just gets out of the way, the Fire Nova as a round-robin, is a tool to give us space.
The same as Thunderstorm on round-robin.
And with Mod Keys, both spells are a means to dealing with being swarmed.
There is too much aoe in the game, I wish they hadn't said that about Shamans. They should have left it at mages and locks for aoe with some other classes getting some aoe every minute (hunters, druids).Originally Posted by 'Lyonheart',index.php?page=Thread&postID=144672#po st144672

The thing with some classes having it, and others not...
People have something called damage meters.
If there were no meters, people would not care so much who was doing so much total damage, and focus on damage dealt to the boss.
Trash dps is pretty meaningless.
If boss dps looked like this:
Mage... 1,000,000
Warlock 1,000,000
Hunter..1,000,000
Shaman.1,000,000
Or whatever..
And trash dps looks like this:
Mage... 1,000,000
Warlock 1,000,000
Hunter..0,400,000
Shaman.0,400,000
People whine that the mage/warlock did high dps to boss and trash, while the 1 min aoe or no aoe classes did 600k less damage on the run.
