Default 5 Druid Team. Anyone else doing this?

    Hi all,

I started a 5 druid team for kicks and just hit lvl 47. I have them all speced for Moonkin pewpew and its working great for general quests, though i dont do any instances because of the lack of a tank. I've been thinking of going Feral on my main so I can start instancing.

Just curious if there are any other druid teams running around. By the way, I'm lvling old school, without RAF.

My RAF is still up so I've been thinking about starting one of these. Alas, since I only PvP, images of fear bombs keep invading my mind...

I'm thinking, at least for normal instances, that there should be enough dps to be able to burn down bosses fast enough that it shouldn't matter that you don't have a formal tank much like 5x shaman. I'm not sure on how healing works as moonkin as I have never once specced into it but does Moonkin limit a druids heals in anyway? If not I would imagine that 5x Moonkin should be able to do heroics. Even if not yea I think one feral would work out well as Feral still puts out some pretty good dps.

I tried the setup, the biggest problem you'll have is fear bomb - and it's a pretty much a deal killer for me in PVP. I'm going to try a 4 shaman and 1 druid setup to see how that goes.

I have no experience with 5x druid, but have a lvl66 druid waiting on my main account till my lvl47 druids catch up.
So far i've boosted 'm with my warrior till they were around lvl 40 where my pally was waiting and instanced through ZF mostly.
    (also non-raf non-pussymode hardcore leveling \o/)

I've tanked with the pally most of the time, but tried a few things on the run.
druids nuking and pally (offspec)healing seemed to work just as well for trash,
bosses hit them quite hard so i never really tried it,
their gear is kinda awfull atm, mainly wearing cloth and such.

I'm still pondering whether I should make them all boomkin or not,
the 3x reju is a nice heal-tool and when combining it with regrowth my pally never seemed to get lower then 95%.

In an instance you'll need at least a few heals,
and constantly swapping in and out of boomkin is going to drain your mana to much I guess.
(also loosing time which can be deadly to a non-trinity group where succes is all about dps)
I'ld say either make only 1 boomkin for the aura and make the others dps/heal combi or have one dedicated healer.
    Real-Life is overrated,

I run this setup currently, and ever since they allowed Entangling Roots to work indoors! - I can do most any instance without going feral - only exception is bosses that spawn too many adds.

Also, I'm not in moonkin form most of the time, I run as balance caster to be able to heal instead (pesky aoe damage). Entangling Roots really makes it a viable team for instances, since you can lock down the melee guys easily, and nuke whatever else does damage. The stun component on Starfire is pure sex.

I eventually specced the main feral anyways, since some bosses do hit fairly hard, and keeping aggro one 1 toon is easier to heal - and bear make a wonderful sponge for taking heavy hits.

Lvl 62 now, been in Winterspring since lvl 58, grinding Timbermaw and Winterspring Sabers - yes, I'm THAT nuts. 58-62 is purely from killing teddies and giants. Did Scholomance @ lvl 60, was loads of fun - ended up soloing Gandling as bear, since I couldn't keep the others alive when they were ported constantly - too much micromanagement. Bear just swipes down the mobs, beats on Gandling, gets ported, heals up, rinse, repeat.

I have a team of 5 druids at level 61. I have them all spec'd as boomkins, but only keep my lead in Moonkin form for tanking the hits and providing the Moonkin aura. I just start the pull with my lead so that he builds a lot of threat. As the mobs approach, I put up 4x rejuv on the lead and then go to work spamming Starfire / Wrath. The rejuvs have done a great job so far keeping my lead toon alive. Completed Overlord and Colossus at level 60 using this method.

My boomkin group is parked at 60 until RAF is over. I'm planning to insta-ding another group of them for 10-boxing stealth madness next year. So far, they're a lot of fun.

First of all, if you think x5 Starfire + stun is pure sex, just wait until you cream your pants over insta-epic flight woosh x5. Makes doing the Spirit Towers so OP.

My boomkins are set up like this: all balance, some rotated talents since 3.0 since nothing stacks anymore: for instance only one has EaM. Lead is a panzerkin, that is, a tank in moonkin form tanking advantage of the armor boost. The only thing I'm really lacking here is extra health and the taunt. The new talent Owlkin Frenzy plus the resto talent for Wrath pushback reduction really makes a difference here. Oh, also the new threat reduction on the balance tree is awesome.. no aggro problems with my tank and not having a taunt is pretty much taken care of by having an instant attack: Moonfire = lots of instant aggro. Leader is geared in all pvp gear: armor + spellpower with defense gems. Followers stay out of moonkin for reason stated above - lead as the aura and you can still heal. They wear combos of leather and cloth as I could get it.

One thing I'm worried about is Panzerkin gear. My assessment of the talent changes (and this could be its own thread) is that they're wanting a "one-size fits all" gear philosophy. My evidence is the addition of spirit -> spell power buffs on the druid balance and priest shadow trees and of course the healing/spell power change. This will be a problem for an extremely unorthodox spec where I want armor, defense stamina and spellpower, hit. PvP gear was perfect for this, gem slots, spellpower and LOTS of stamina, not to mention the resilience helps up to a certain point for missing crits. HOWEVER, come WoTLK, all 80 pvp gear will require ratings and being a PvE'er instead of an arena guy is gonna hurt me. So, if you're planning to panzerkin like I did, you may want to do some research into gear before you spend too much time. I've not had bear gear for a long time, but it shouldn't be too hard to pick some up if I'm forced to respec as this is a more orthodox spec for druids.

Anyway, I've just not really had a chance to do the 70 instances yet, but I was wanting to work on those come expan as an xp supplement (I see a multiboxer in the mass chaos that is the first new zone as 5 giant targets on a pvp server). Anyway, I have completed all below 70 instances with success, including Shirrak who was specifically designed to kick my butt with that debuff. I'm basically ready to move on to Tempest Keep now and start doing those. Don't really see it'll be much of a problem, except for maybe Nethermancer Sep? I still suck at movement. Healing is not an issue. x4 Regrowth > Dedicated heal. And when I'm really hurting I pile all the hots on and I'm usually fine. Only an enraged Gron has gotten me so far and I haven't gone back since gearing up more. Plus with the new heal spellpower changes, its easier than ever now to heal with a balance spec.

Oh also.. the new changes to trees are OP too. A boss that is particularly susceptible to melee damage just gets totally chewed for 45 secs. Also, in Sethek Halls with the first boss that summons elemental adds, I was really worried about them and I was planning the "burn through" method. Basically on normal mode my trees turned on the first immolate and ate all their butts before I knew I'd been hit. I almost wiped to laughing. I turned the forest of doom on one of those big elites at Netherwing Ledge when surprised by one and they could've solo'd it. It was almost dead by the time I'd healed the victim and started pre-hots on the tank.

Well, that's my assessment. Or most of it. I've been told on the IRC channel about the blogs Suv and Vyn are setting up. I should get one so I could write more detailed experiences. Basically, I like it because they're not shamans. I don't think they're better, but they're different. And there are lots of problems, some of which I'm sure I've not faced having not really gotten into 70 instances and heroics. I can say that 3 of my droogs with a real tank and healer did just fine in Heroic Sethekk getting my epic flight forms. I think with my experiences in there, I could do it.

    Anyway, I hope this helps.
