Stay away from Sony DVD writers, during my time in the company they were notorius for having faulty DVD writers.

If your gonna build a "beast" be sure to install one harddrive for each instance of wow you plan to run (I use 5 harddrives to 5 box, some people say symlinking is faster so I will actually have to give that a go and see what kind of numbers i get)

A Single GTX 280 will be fine, I dont know that you will get any noticable gains by running 2 and in fact in some tests running 2 may actually reduce your fps

Be sure to throw in two 21+ inch monitors an X-Keys Pro and a UPS and you should be good to go.

I have that case (Cosmos S) and love it! It is very easy to work with and has great ventilation.

    I recommend adding:
    ZALMAN CNPS 9700
    Thermaltake A2018 120mm Blue LED Case Fan x 4-6
    ZALMAN Multi Fan Controller

i7 offers small gains ( but gains for sure ) for single gpu solutions. HOWEVER it makes SLI and Crossfire SCREAM! read up before you buy anything if you plan on using SLI. Intels Core i7

Now like Nitro said. For WoW one 280 is more than enough. If your like me, I play all the latest games and want the best performance I can get within reason. SO I suspect your wanting SLI is not just for WoW? IF so.. you might want to wait a few days for these new CPUs and MBs.

this is really similar to my system-- only big differences i see are that you've got a 790i mobo with ddr3 ram, i have the 750i with ddr2; also i have 1x gtx 280. i don't have any issues with running 5 instances of wow on my machine, even in shatt i don't get any slowdown. sli isn't really needed for wow, so you could save some money there unless you want sli for other games.

I'm running 5 WoW clients on an nForce 780i, Q6600, 6GB RAM, 10K RPM Raptor HD, EVGA 8800 GTS, 2 x 22" monitors, and I run at 40 fps on my lead character and my alts are capped at 15 fps. Rarely have any problems from my setup, so you should be much better off than me with the system you're building.

Consider a Solid State HD to boot the wow Data folder from. I use a 32 gb OCZ drive. The performance gains in big cities and pvp brawls were amazing. I actually expected less when I got the drive.
