Default Looking for comments/suggestions on my team

I leveled these characters after the 3.0 patch with a combination of questing and instancing and ive been looking at their stats more closely. I'm running Warrior/Mage/Mage/Priest/Moonkin And the mages DPS just doesnt compete with the moonkin, im sure the CC will help with heroics but I havent really needed it so far just with how easy its been. Here are the stats

Level 60 Female Gnome Warrior (Full Prot)

    Damage Done: 4176206

    Healing Done: 19168

Level 60 Female Night Elf Druid (Full Balance)

    Damage Done: 4112761

    Healing Done: 1701

Level 60 Female Gnome Mage (Full Fire)

    Damage Done: 3287650

    Healing done: 6073

Level 60 Female Draenei Mage (Full Fire)

    Damage Done: 3269810

    Healing Done: 101018

Level 60 Female Dwarf priest (Full Holy)

    Damage Done: 384626

    Healing Done: 2721250

Im thinking of taking the gnome mage out and adding something else that might be beneficial like a shadow priest or a hunter but that might also add too much complexity. Any suggestions?

A female holy Dwarf mage? damn, I want! ;)

Anyways, if you check my sig, you see that I have a complex setup, and I love it.

The classes that can boost your team in terms of synergy are: Shaman(totems), hunter(3% dmg if BM spec), shadowpriest(3% hit and manareturns).

I'd actually go for a shammy, then you have backupheals(without leaving moonkinform), manareturns, more spelldmg etc. etc.
After that, I'd choose the hunter, since the hunter and warrior has some synergy.

You only state "damage done." This says nothing about the spells/castsequences etc etc you use. Maybe the mage's spells could be improved to improve their damage?

A shaman to replace one mage would probably add the most i think.

ya wishful thinking on the dwarf mage I guess. but im not sure if I could properly manage totems. I'm doing Warrior on Box 1 and the other 4 on box 2 with a Belkin game pad, I guess ill have to see how much room ill need for shaman specific macros and see if i have room.

Well I tried different combinations of scorch and fireball castsequences and used frostbolt spam when I went through brd. Used Mage armor on both the whole time, combustion when available. I tried to aoe a little as possible as its just easier to manage adds this the ranged staying at ranged.

Perhaps ill have to try switching one over to arcane and see if that changes things as they are pretty even right now it would be a good test. (I do have a shaman at 65 I could throw into the group when they get there) or I can RAF a hunter to 60 and ah gear.

If you already have a shammy at 65, use that.
I have 3 shaman specific keys. Totemstomp, water shield and flametongue weapon. Rest is on shared. Actually, water shield is shared with Inner Focus for my priests (it will add spellpower from level 71).

Edit: One has to simplify specs and make them revolve around multiboxing. For non-elites, dmg done is very biased as to the 1 char that get's the highest damage spell to land and do full damage.

I'd go with fire and scorchspamming for mages for nonelites and scorch*2 and fireballing for instances/elites.

Where are you getting these damages numbers from? Seeing as they are in the 4 millions, I'd assume you've been keeping a damage meter running the whole time, which is ok, but won't necesarily provide the most accurate picture of how an individual's damage contributes. If, for example, you are killing normal mobs in your daily adventures, and the mobs are dying 1 second before your mages get their last fireball off, or if that last fireball crits buts kills the mob before it can take ignite damage, you are going to see a reduction in their over all damage in the long run, even though in extended cisrcumstances they may perform just as well as any other DPS. It doesn't help that moonkins tend to spam wrath, which has a short cast time that may provide the illusion it is beating out the dps with the longer cast times, but only because the moonkin gets that one extra wrath in.

As far as killing trash and non-elites goes, I would say that a better estimate of performance would be group DPS, and for extended fights such as bosses, total damage done and individual DPS is what you want to look at.

Bottom line though, I would say you should go beat up a targeting dummy with a fresh damage meter and look at those numbers to determine if your characters are up to snuff.

the damage numbers are built into the achievements, its the other tab "statistics" shows a bunch of useless crap like killing blows amount of mobs killed. I put it in just to show that both mages were doing similar but just slacking weird against the druid

as for the spells, ive tried to keep similar casting times together like starfire with fireball and scorch with wrath

as for the advice a lot of people seem to be leaning towards shaman so i'll give that a go when they hit 65 but ill waste my RAF levels on a hunter to see if I like the idea of that since they are going to expire soon anyways

Fireball is a long cast. Is it possible the druid is simply just casting more spells in the same time frame? Short fights result in low dps for a fire mage IME, unless you use fire blast and scorch or other instant/short casts. Fireball just takes too long even with the cast time reduction talent. When I used to solo play a mage I rarely even used it in instances, only on bosses. Mobs simply died before it finished casting.

I currently run a fire mage in my mixed 5-man group...maybe I should actually look at the numbers and redo my macros or respec if necessary. Often my Fireball spell lands after the mob is dead or never actually ends up casting. Personally this has never bothered me [read - I am lazy] since I am still levelling up my team, things die very fast and I rarely have to drink. Of course, I probably should make things as efficient as I can =)

    Cheers.

Yeah, found that tab over the weekend, and I felt silly about my response before. I couldn't figure out why anyone would leave a damage meter running that long for.
