Default Ramparts Run with multiclass boxer - any suggestions???

    Hi guys,

my current setup is as follows
    1 x Prot Pally (tank)
    1 x Holy Priest (heals)
    3 x Fire Mages (DPS)

just recently have i hit the outlands with my team, and just as recently completed 3/4 of the HFP quests. So i have pretty much all outlands greens for my team.

i was bout 20% away from 61 and decided to give ramps a shot too see how i go.
Being a nub to wow this was prolly only the 2nd time i had stepped into ramps ever (solo or multiboxing).

After reading extensively about all the skills/talents of the trash i was fairly confident that i had everything down pat, and i did for the most part (loosing just 1/2 mages on a trash pull which aggro'ed some adds i didnt expect). Getting to the first boss i thought that i was gonna wipe, but found the first boss EASIER than the trash i had been crawling through. So after pwning the first boss my confidence was back up again and i continued on.

Finally after a few close calls and a couple of hairy situations i was confronted with Omor.

1st time - wiped (he can juggle pretty dam well)
2nd time - wiped (no im serious he really can juggle)
3rd time - killed (ok, well my pally was left standing but thats bout it)

i could not work out anyway to get around the shadow bolt spam he would cast on my cloth wearers, just seemed as tho priest couldnt keep up with healing on cloth wearers AND manage to keep healing up on pally as he was being juggled (group heal just wasnt enough).

after that, i thought to myself, 'i came this whole way i may aswell wipe... i mean attempt to kill the dragon/rider guy'.

1st time - wiped (didnt know wtf was happening and aggro'ed guards at the ramp and wasnt setup)
2nd time - wiped (tryed to do it legit way, fire pwned my cloth wearers which basically left my pally for dead)
3rd time - wiped (managed to do the trick of pulling guards back on ramp, but even then mages had aggro and burned to death)
4th time - bugged (dragon despawned and left rider there by himself. Rider was a peice of piss when fire wasnt owning my clothies, downed him and had to reset)

Now theres plenty of tactics around for the 5 x shaman group or a group which consists of 2 shaman at least (grounding totems ftw obviously) but i want to know what expiriences other MULTICLASS multiboxers (pref a Tank,Healer,DPS x3(without grounding totems:P)) are having with ramps. Maybe i should try when i level a bit but i hope i havent wasted all this time/money/effort to not even be able to pull off a ramparts clear :S

Any Suggestions would be greatly appreciated, or even some other multiboxers let me know that im not the only one having the same problems

    Thanks in advance

BTW: i leveled to 61 during that run :P

    Default 4x

    Hi,

I run almost the same config, pala, priest, 2x mage. tried it at 62 and 63.
I got the feeling I keep screwing things up, killed the first boss, but it was a pain, wiped 3 times or something.
Gonna retry at 65 I think.

How do you have you're keys setup?
I use the Fkeys for the pala, numpad for the mages and other keys for the healing, wondering how other ppl do this.

    Greetings,

I'd activate fire ward (or flame ward? the fire dmg absorption thing), mana shield and mage armor. That + fire resistance aura from the pally should help a lot.
Also, if you're perhaps not used to spreading out yet then do it. You really don't want everyone standing in one spot for this boss.
The dragon boss is stupidly hard without some 'good' gear for your tank and healer. You want enough hp on your tank to survive if the healer has to heal someone else, and enough mana regen / mana on the healer to actually heal through all that madness

It will get alot better through once you get some gear.
You could give blood furnace a shot, imo it's easier than the last boss of ramps.

    *edit*
Regarding the second boss. Buff shadow resistance, use sr aura (if they stack) and mage armor and nuke away on the boss _without_ the pala standing in melee range. If nobody is in melee range then he will only shadow bolt some of your guys but not start to melee anything. Should be easily healable by the priest since you can concentrate on single target healing. Just pick up the felhunters with your pala and you should be good.

    kind regards

You'll be able to do it but you're going to face lots of frustration early with 4 clothies, and some encounters will be painful with no grounding totems (but still possible ). I run paly, 2x sham, 2x mage, I started attempting ramps at 61, was able to do first two bosses easily but couldn't do the third until lvl 64.

A few notes on your team. You should not die here on any trash pull with 3 mages. If you haven't already, set up some system to assign a target to each mage and have a sheep key to spam on pull. I use target for DPS with a seperate assist macro to assign DPS target. I use focus for CC, so I have 2 buttons that on my tank assign a raid icon and each mage has a /focus macro on only one of the buttons (I have show party's targets turned on so when they /target and /focus I can see in group window quickly if they have the right one). During pull shift + main dps spam key = sheep for mages (modifiers are on extra mouse buttons), so my tank does his rotation on his target, my mages sheep, and my other dps does nothing while I'm spamming it on pull.

Regarding the trash, kill single destroyers and sheep extras (they reset aggro and will easily 2 shot your clothies at your level). The 4th or 5th pull as 3 casters that can do fear, as does the big pull at the top of stairs. Rippers have high dps output, and the 1 pull with beastmaster you should kill him first.

Second boss - I believe his debuff is magic based (he may also have a curse, can't remember). I just spread my group out in a semi circle around him, tank in middle with paly, hit consecrate when feldogs spawn. I did him once with no grounding totems just to test out my cleanse / decurse keys and the fight went just as well with no grounding totems (never had any deaths on him). Just be ready to dispell / decurse on any party member when they get debuffed, keep the dogs on your tank, and it's easy.

Last boss - I read all the suggestions about spreading out the team and did spawn him without autopulling and that never worked for me, even at 64 and with totems. It's just too difficult to tank, heal, dps, and monitor each window to see who is near a fireball and try to move them (unless you're overgeared). What I did is put everyone /fol on the tank, and just kite him around ... go a few steps, cast nukes, repeat. Never had any fireball damage this way (they are randomly targatted at a party member, so if you are on /fol and always moving no one will get hit). When the dragon decends, I hit my spread out macro, AS the dragon and back up the tank so I'm just in front of them with the dragon's back to my group. There are no fireballs in this phase, just a front facing cone AE which will only hit your tank ... finish killing the rider, then the dragon. The hard part with this fight is even if you avoid all the fireballs you still need some decent HP to withstand the dragon dmg. Make sure to fire ward your mages, maybe even bring fire absorb pots for your priest and tank ... use them right before pull and they should help if you eat a fireball. Or wait and use one on the tank after he starts tanking the dragon.

It looks like in this video that you can get the last boss down to ~1% then engage the event. Sounds like you are making good progess just keep on trying. The more you do an instance the easier it gets.

I have similar sort of setup, set focus on mages before the fight and then cast sheep on focus target. Had it all down pat by the end of the instance, after i learnt that the destroyers change target when they knock u in the air so need to have righteous defence ready to go before u even land.

Ahhh excellent idea, i only run ramps once so far so didn't really try many tactics after i managed to scrape through, but definatley sounds like a much better way to take him down than what i was doing!! Thanks allot ill give it a shot tonight and post some results tommorow.

I'd activate fire ward (or flame ward? the fire dmg absorption thing), mana shield and mage armor. That + fire resistance aura from the pally should help a lot.

Yeh i completley forgot bout mages fire ward buff. Ill do that tonight and see how i go. Also i picked up a few cheap fire resistance items from the AH so ill put them on aswell as use some fire pots (and pallys aura). I also will try the kiting option that Phara suggested as it sounds quite viable imo. Just wanna kill the dragon so i can complete the ramparts quest.

Just watched the movie posted by Schwarz and i didnt relise that you could dps the dragon down while he is in flight!!!! look like it was much easier than doing it the proper way, think im gonna try that first as it seems as tho you skip the whole fire thing.

In Regards to my setup this is how i role at the moment

Shift 1 - 7 (whatever my fingers can stretch too :P) = Mages (Fireball, Ice block, Pyroblast etc.)
    1 - 7 = Pallys keys
Direction Arrows = Set mage focus
Shift Q,E,F,G,C,V,B = Mixed mage/priest combos (the "oh shit" buttons really, eg: shift v mana shields mages and priest bubbles self) (Shift + E = instant cast mage spell cant remember the name) but ya get the idea anywhoo

For Healing, i use an addon called Clique and Hotkeynet's mouse hook, so basically Shift Rclick on party member on main and priest will heal that party member. So i got Shift Left Click to do greater heal, shift right click for quick heal, alt left click for priests bubble and alt right click for renew

P.S: my gear is pretty fail but if anyone notices any items which can be upgraded easily through questing im more than happy to hear suggestions. (Obviously im aware of the ramparts quests for gear :P )

Like i said earlier i will try again tonight and repost tommorow to let ya all know how it went. (maybe we should add to the duel boxing wiki to include some of these suggestions, espcially the vid of dps'ing the dragon down before initiating the fight, if it works as easy as it did in the vid then thats definatley the ezmode)
Thanks allot for every suggestion, greatly appreciated.

As far as i know the dragon will still shoot fireballs even if you're not fighting the rider. Also, sometimes the event will bug out of for some reason you kill the dragon before the rider (at least on heroic it happened to me).

One thing I always do on at least my tank char (usually on all of them). Get the 10 stamina knothide armor kits. Thats a free 60 or 70 stamina (unless you enchant your gear already, which would be a waste at that level).

    kind regards

I think this is the case if you pull the 2 guards they try to engage him. If you watch dozer's video (the one i linked) it looks like he gets him down to 1% then pulls the guards. I didn't know about that until a couple days ago either

Yah, holy priest imo after the patch (especially) is a tad OP as a healer, cant say i have ever actually ran out of mana on my priest, so it really hasnt bothered me just leaving him with whatever is left over. I figure, if priest gets aggro then my pally isnt doing his job properly.

Anyhow coz of maintenance didnt get to try the learn2ramps tactic of the dragon, but ill definatley be trying it first thing when i get home today.
Maintenance always gives me a craving for some wow!
