Hi all,
I'm rather new to the multi-box concept and have not yet decided to take the plunge. I thought I would try and ask a few questions first to help me decide. First off, I play wow on a laptop (Acer Ferrari 3400) and yes it is fairly old, but I am able to run two clients with it. In the past I would just alt tab, to put on follow etc to help get some quest done that I was unable to solo. So at most I am considering dual-boxing, any more than that, and I think my laptop would revolt. I have recently switched from alliance to horde, so I don’t have a lvl 70 acct to boost with.
Currently, I have a lvl 39 rogue which I am having a lot of fun with. I would like to duo-box this toon with a shammie via the RAF program. I imagine for that to work, I would have to lvl the shammie to lvl 39 for the triple exp bonus to kick in on both accounts. Basically, I imagine using my rogue to run my shammie through all the lower lvl quests until I reach that point and can take advantage of the raf questing.
Now for the questions, and please bear with me, I’m a computer noob. From what I have read so far I would require Keyclone and the mod MultiboxerV2 (at least it was suggested in a few threads). From what I gather, Keyclone is required to transfer the inputs from one client to the other. What I’m confused about is does keyclone also manage the video aspect or is that a different program all together? My screen on my laptop is 1400 x 1050. Would I have two wow clients up in windowed mode or is it possible to merge the windows so I can see both clients at once. My second question concerns the wow folders. In the past, I have logged into two clients from the same shortcut, yet I have read here that people will often have multiple wow installs to run more than one client. What is the benefit of doing that and is it required for multi-boxing?
Any advice for my situation would be welcome. In particular, does anyone have experience multi-boxing with an Acer Ferrari 3400 laptop? Is a rogue shammie duo possible, or is there a better class combination that I should consider? (I don’t have the hardware, nor the means to support a 5 boxer, so I’m specifically focusing on two). Any advice on what layout to see two screens at once with a 1400 x 1050 screen, or alternatively is there a way to set it up so that my main wow screen is 1400 x 1050 as it is now and my alt screen could appear like a picture in picture window?
Thanks in advance for any advice, I’ll keep reading in the mean time.
B.
