Thread: Stat milestones

    Default Stat milestones

Okay, so I just finished up yet another eots loss (see the other thread about battlegroups sucking.) This time around, we lost entirely because the alliance team had 6 priests, all of which were discipline. They weren't organized or anything, but they were in full merc gear (something I'm grinding for, myself.) The problem is that a single disc priest is capable of holding up a level -68- hunter through my damage bursts. I was just curious as to when I was going to be going about actually out-damaging a single healer's heals - what the goal numbers were, if you will. This is with a totem of wrath and flametounge weapon active. The master toon has recieved some bits and peices of kara and/or gruul's loot as I've been invited to PVE with people I've known for a while, so he's a little better off than the rest.

    Master/Slaves
    Spell damage: 629/605
    Spell crit: 17.07/15.87
    HP: 7836/7656
    Resil: 169/197

Peices of gear that I *have* are the s2 shield, gloves, and shoulders. The leader also has s1 pants and a kara belt. Aside from that they all have HH rings, 5-minute PVP trinket, Vengence of the Illidari, and it's all greens from there, not counting rep-set blues.

At what point do you start actually noticing the gear helping you win games and/or fights you otherwise wouldn't have made it through? Additionally, aside from honor grinding, are there any easily-obtainable peices of gear for the neck, cape, bracers, or boot slots that don't involve badges or honor to grab?

just checked the armory on your plox character and noticed that you don't have any enchants on any of your gear. by adding some enchants to your head, shoulders, chest, gloves, pants and boots would greatly help your survivability. most of the enchants are easily found as either rep rewards, AH or asking an enchanter for the mats needed.

that would be the first thing i would do to improve my gear if i were you.

Yeah, I'm beginning to get into the dailies grind. Got an enchanter friend who's putting resil on shield for me. Helm enchants I'll look into - and I don't know if I want a spell damage enchant to helm or a stam/resil to helm. I guess I should start socketing for spelldamage, though, since healers are easily out-healing through all five of me. I just realised I hadn't trained Totem of Wrath ranks 2/3 nor did I have thunderstorm rank 2, so that will hopefully improve my performance at least a little. >.>

I did the same thing with thunderstorm and totem of wrath, don't worry

As for the enchant, they make a huge difference when you get em on lots of gear, on all your toons. As for having an enchanter friend do your stuff, I hope its just because he has a formula you don't. Otherwise you need to pick up enchanting! It is a great source of your mats (ie saves gold) when running instances etc.

Disc priests can seem pretty ridiculous at first when trying to kill something, but the key is going to be dispelling at the beginning of the fight, and at key points throughout the fight. Make sure you get all the buffs off someone before you lay into them. As soon as you see PW:S and Renews start to show up, spam dispell and then continue dps. You should be able to out dps the priest. I will say though, lightning bolt/chain lightning dps seems a bit lower than it used to be. Even still you should have enough with five guys to kill em through priests.

hitting 70 was more important to me than trade professions, back then. One of my guys is at, uh... 16 enchanting, lol. I plan on having 5 engineers (Hex + poltryizer, 5 cloaking devices, 5 slowfall cloaks, and so forth) with one being an enchanter and the other four being herbalists for the HoT (which I hope stacks, if not it doesn't seem as appealing.) The plan was to use dailies cash to grab the mining materials... looking back at it, not so good now. As it stands, with Wrath hitting on nov. 13th, getting season 2 gear is my priority. It's always been a goal of mine to be wearing shaman s2, since it's my favorite model out of all the gear in the game. Much the same with shaman tier 2 - it just looks awesome.

Either way, thanks for the tip on purge. I guess I just got lazy.. back when I was playing my enhancement shaman (heh, 6 level 70 shamans >.<) purge was my "I SWEAR THIS IS SO OP" button. Lived and died by it, I called it "Shaman bible rank 2" for a while. But with the amount of gank I could pump out in the 60-69 bracket, perhaps I just picked up the bad habit of nuking instead of thinking. Lol.

HOpefully, learning to purge will fix some of it. In the end, I still need to find an answer to the ranged DPS sitting 41-36 yards away from me, and their healer sitting at 40 yard range from THEM. At the moment, more spelldamage sounds like the best bet if purges don't fix it.

Mmm if you just had DEed along the way it would taken you 2 more hours in total time and saved you 500-1k in maths on my server if your suposed to buy it,

I realy hope you sent the items to alts since dust comming from lvl 30-55 items varies from 30g-80g per stack. FUN!

No, actually. -.- Professions are going to take me forever. I'm more than likely going to have to wait for Wrath to come out before I can solidly get to working on them. My priorities have always stood with the actual level of the toon rather than what they could make/craft/gather.

If you feel that gathering S2 gear 2 weeks away from WOTLK is more importan then lvling the professions to +350 then be my guest. I did assume your shamans were 70 since you had the HH rings S2 shiled etc...

I always sent BoE gear to my druid who can DE (2nd char and waaaay before multiboxing)

The money i made on maths is around 5-6k spread over my toons. (this was before multiboxing aswell)

And taking a 1500 HoT over 60-80 more spelldamage? :S

Might just be me, but I feel that 1500 healing over the main will do me more good in a pinch than an extra 4-500 damage. When it comes to BG's, I'm constantly under fire. The HoT is another 1500 damage I don't have to heal through, which lets me pull off an extra LB or so on a damage dealer?
