ok, I don't know if this has been asked or not but I would like to take the chance to try to clear this up for any one that might have the same questions as me. I don't know if it's been added or not yet (Due to I know the wiki was being updated)

What are they?

How do they work, actually?

I know the locks come with it, so how do you go about making them (what mats are needed) on other toons and if the locks come with it how do you go about making them?

what are the benifits?
Hey supreme,

Glyphs are a new with patch 3.0. They are an extensino of customziation available to each character. Think of them as enchants for your spells.
Each character at 80 will have 3 major glyphs, and 3 minor. At 70 you have 2 major avail, and 3 minor.

Major glyphs add interesting functionality to a spell you already have (read the details of each one).
Example: Flash heal costs 10% less mana.

Minor glyphs add little cool things to spells, or minor functionality change:
Example: Your polymorph spell turns things into penguins instead of sheep.

Glyphs are made by inscribers, and are created with Ink and Paper. Ink comes from Pigments, and Paper is a vendor item.
Pigments are milled from Herbs. Milling is to herbs what prospecting is to ore. You can mill a stack of 5 herbs to get 2-4 pigment, and the chance at a rare pigment as well.

All major glyphs currently available are TRAINED. So they should be found.
Minor glyphs are learned through a skill called "Minor inscription research" that a inscriber can do once per 20 hours. Each time they learn a random Minor glyph.

Thus MINOR runes are worth much more then MAJOR runes. Ironic? yes.

Finally when applying runes to your character, most runes require you to be near a tome of powery thing. These are next to inscription trainers, and are thus currently NOT IN SHAT, and only avail in hellfire or old world capitals.

If you have any further questions, feel free to ask.
