When I first came here I thaught you had to hardware box and had no other choice but found out software boxing is possibile.

http://www.dual-boxing.com/wiki/index.php/Software (I have found that for me it will be cheaper to go this route though for some it may be cheaper to go the hardware route)

Q u o t e:
Semantics issue #2:
Software (such as Keyclone, Octopus, etc) to emulate a keyboard multiboxing solution is, by nature, "3rd party". Is "3rd party software" synonymous with "bot" or "automation"? Are all types of "3rd party software" bannable?
Likewise, hardware, by nature, is "3rd party". What kinds (or uses) of 3rd party hardware are bannable?
Is it sending an identical signal to all client windows or switching between them to send commands? Not automation.
Is it playing the game for you, or rather, for one of your client windows? Automation.
All hardware is considered neutral as long as its commands and features are not being used to automate gameplay.

Q u o t e:
oh great! thanks guys. so the people that got banned for using keystroke probably did other things that they shouldn't? i'm just a little paranoid cuz i dont want to be banned from a game that i've been playing for 2 years. even if i could make a new account, it wouldn't be the same.
As long as you aren't using keyclone to do things that couldn't be done otherwise - normally, should be fine.
http://forums.worldofwarcraft.com/thread.html?topicId=10971863154&postId=10970867423 3&sid=1#2 (as stated about all software, if you cant do it normally then it is breaking the rules of the game)

Unapproved Third Party Software
A third party program is any file or program that is not a part of the World of Warcraft software, but is used to gain an advantage in the game, such as increasing your movement speed or teleporting from one place to another beyond what is allowed by game design. It also includes any programs that obtain information from the game that is not normally available to the regular player or that transmit or modify any of the game files. Normally, this classification does not include UI modifications, except those UIs that require an external application to function. Any external applications that are used in conjunction with World of Warcraft can cause quite a few unwanted side effects. Some of the major possible results of the use of third party programs can be instability of the game to the point that a player "crashes" from the game quite often. External programs can also be used to transmit viruses, spyware, and other unwanted programs into a player's computer. Third party programs can also be used to obtain information from the player's computer, such as account, password, and personal information. If a player is found to have used such a program, he/she may:
  • Be temporarily suspended from the game
  • Have further action taken, up to and including account closure, based on the intent of the program
http://us.blizzard.com/support/article.xml?articleId=20224 (In all its your choice of what software you choose to use. Just do your homework on the software before saying yes or no to it. It is your choice, if you feel that said software dosn't break the ToS then use it. But rember that things do change so you dont know if in the future things may change about said software so best to keep up todate on what your using and if there is any grey area involved or something added to it that should not be there)

PC and Equipment Guide for Multi-Boxing.. By Bradster (Hardware Route)

Since with hardware all of its set up through kvm switchs and such things.. There is not as huge of a grey area in this type of playing. (If starting from scratch it will be more exspencive but if you are more worried about the grey area then cost this might be your choice)

http://www.dual-boxing.com/wiki/index.php/Rigs (this is a list of some of the forum users set ups to guide you of what your looking at on hardware and software needs)

Now you will need to look at your moniter situation, how many moniters. If using one rig you and you want more moniters, you will need to look into the fact of getting less fps for this option (if running 2 video cards) beings you will now be dealing with teh fact that it all renders on the first card then sends it over to the other. (Dual cards/monitors, worse FPS?)

With that stuff set up, you will need to look at what your goals are. Pvp, Pve, and such things. So when building your team, you dont have 5 toons at 30 and realize you want a tank, or a healer. Or if your going to 2,3,4 boxing same thing that you find out it would be more enjoyable with such toon. If your main is in a raiding guild. will you get invited to the raid (is this an option for you) will they just want the one toon or all or just fill in here and there. Do you have friends that you do heavy arena with, what do you want to bring to your arena teams. Thinking all this out before starting will make things easyer in the end so you don't get stuck having to reroll the full team or reroll just one toon.

Now that you have figured your team out, you should look into what type of targeting you will be dealing with.

There are multiple options for this,
but most people once they have acoustomed themselfs to it find that the ftl setup works best. Focusless, targetless, 'leaderless' setup.
http://www.dual-boxing.com/wiki/inde...aderless_Setup

A variation of this is seen here
http://www.dual-boxing.com/wiki/inde...ientated_Setup

Your going to need other macros aswell for invites and such things.
http://www.dual-boxing.com/wiki/inde...ck_Start_Guide

For in game preformance, for those with multiple toons on one moniter (persay 1 on main and 4 on second moniter)
You will need to set up the fps and such so that way you dont get crazy crazy lag fest.

Now that you have ideas on all that. When starting if you make a patition to a gm just to let them know that you are multiboxing it may make things easyer in the end when you get the haters reporting you for epeen envy. Aswell as what server you choose, there are a fair ammount of servers out there that some people play on but it seems that there are allot of people playing on these servers in a guild together.

Eu http://eu.wowarmory.com/guild-info.x...n=The+Zerg&p=1
Us http://www.wowarmory.com/guild-info....n=The+Zerg&p=1

There are other servers aswell that people play on and by all means pick the one that you want to go to and will be happy with.

Now that your on the server. You should look at the fact that your going to stand out from the rest of the people on the server and you represent Multiboxing as a whole so you may look at some tips and tricks of the trade to keep the hate to a minimel http://www.dual-boxing.com/wiki/inde...erver_Politics
