Default Question about account linking and leveling

OK... Just stared 2 boxing yesterday. RAF'd from my main account and am still on my 10 day trial with new account. I keep hearing about people running 2, 3, 4 (ect) accounts with an UNLINKED main level 70 to boots. Sounds great, BUT - why the heck would i want to do that? I mean, In the end, do most people keep 5 paid accounts running all the time? And if so, how in the world do you support your habit

    Here's the main question I have. I'm multi-boxing for 2 main reasons:

    1) It sounds like alot of fun and makes soloing seem... well... less solo.

    2) Great XP bonus and the ability to grant levels to my main account's characters.

Now - if I did not link my main account (of course this removes the ability to boost as I understand it) it also means i cannot grant any levels to my main account. So, I'd be granting levels to an alt account which, unless you pay for 2,3,4.ect accounts per months, seems kinda worthless.

Last question - I'm currently on the 10 day trial with my RAF. If I play 40ish hours, I should be able to hit 50-60 (non-boosted) before my 10 days is up. Can a trial account grant levels? If so, why in the world would I ever upgrade to a real account? I mean, I can take a new toon on my main, level it up with a free trial account (granted i cannot give money or equipment to him) and grant 25-30 levels to my main's characters when I'm done (given that they are lower level than the referring account's character). But, this should effectively make me able to get all of my main characters gifted to at least level 55-60 for free.

Let me know where my logic is flawed! Thanks.

From what I understand and have experienced is that trail accounts can't grant level, they are only trail. You main would not get the grant a level from the alt (That is why you have a main but you do get the extra xp.... which evens out). Also, the trial accounts can only go up to level 20 unless they are transfered over to paid accounts meaning that it would limit your ability to get to 60+ or even lower then tha

Others correct me if I am wrong, for I have not started multiboxing or emplimented the Raf yet, though this is info I have been researching.

Yes those that have the 5 accounts, keep them active to have there full group.

The trial accounts like said before can only level up to 20, aswell as you then have to upgrade to a full account and add 2 months to the account to get the 3x xp rate. (if you do this with out a game card, you have a month before the 3x xp rate will start beings the online payment doesn't go through untill the first free month is up, the free month that is included with pre tbc game client)

As for the 4 accounts not linked to boost, I havn't seem to read much on that (or I have not payed much attention).

But what it seems is that the majority of people do this set up with the 5 box raf. Vet - raf 1 - raf 2 - raf 3 - raf 4 That with leveling one team to 60 will give 29 levels (if you on the toons you want granted the levels, level it close to the next level before gifting the levels, it will keep the xp and work as if persay you need one more bar to level, when you have revieved all gifted levels, you will still only need one bar to level so close to a free level)

My plans are with the trial accounts to mainly work on getting macros and the FTL macro system working and understand it aswell able to make new macros on the fly for this set up (beings its fairly easy to hit 20 and with out the 3x xp so in that time I will level up a 5 team to 20 that I plan on gifting levels to later on so I have more levels to go around and want to add up the gifted levels on the first team I will go to 60 with so that way I get full ammount of levels I can gift from them)

    Hopefully this helps you out.

Side note, if you are looking at playing 5 toons, then look into the system specs of both software boxers and hardware boxers to decide if your capable of dooing it or need to upgrade some stuff.

You do not have to wait a month for triple exp - nor do you "add 2 months to the account". You refer a trial account and get RAF bonuses for 3 months from the account creation, regardless of when you upgrade it to a full account. To get the zhevra mount, the referred account must subscribe and pay for 2 months.

All this is spelled out in the RAF faqs here and on the official wow forums.

I started doing the same thing just after the RAF system was released.

Your referred account, once you pay the $20 for WoW Classic, gets 30 days of account time. You'll be limited to level 60, and will not be able to play BElfs or Draenei unless you also purchase Burning Crusade. If you are uncertain that you want to commit to dual boxing, you might want to only purchase WoW Classic. You can always buy BC when you're @ lvl 60.

The tripple experience is incredible. On later quests, I was getting 20,000 - 30,000 XP for single quest turn ins. Every few quest turn ins was a Ding. Summoning your linked toons is also a great way to speed things up. I would send a high level toon on my main account to a new location, and then summon a RAF toon to pick up a new flight point. Then the RAF toon would summon his leveling buddy from the main account there to pick it up. It's limited to 1 summon per hour, each direction.

The gifted levels must go from the RAF Account to your Main Account. You can only gift levels to a LOWER level toon. You cannot gift to someone past level 60. For the most bang for your buck, you could gift 30 levels to a level 30 Main after your RAF toon hits 60. You would basically end up with 3 new level 60 toons doing this (the gifted toon and the 2 you tripple XP level up to 60).

You'll need to fund the 2nd account with 2 months if you want to receive the Zhevra mount on your main account.

First off, let me compliment the forum. You are all very helpful and I thank you for not calling me a noob or telling me to "search the forums".

I downloaded the classic wow trial account straight from bliz. Of course, I have to purchase a retail box to continue and upgrade past level 20 and to gift levels (didnt know about the not being able to gift levels part). The trial did allow me to practice multiboxing and I really love it and would recommend anyone who wants to "Dabble" to just use a trail key and try it out.

My question is this - Let's say I upgrade to the full account and put in my 90 days. After 90 days I cancel my new account (after gifting my levels of course). Am I able to ... re-refer a friend (new trial key) and again upgrade to the full version using the same wow key? Or is that wow key forever... tainted?

    Thanks!

There is no point in calling any one a n00b due to every one was there once before and we have went through different routes.

What I do is on my main I would always stay atleast one lvl ahead of every one else so that you can just grant lvls to the alts. You can also do "Group" quest as well if you find that more down your road... I do both but in my opinion I find it easier to just grant lvls if you are only going to run about too (That is what I do with my brothers lock), but if you have more then three it would be better to just do group quest.

I believe you could do that but I am not really sure. I know you get about 3-5 invites for that account and then after those are used then there is no more. I believe from what I have read and have saw after you hit 60 it's pretty much down hill fromt here all the way to 70 but some one else can clear that up for you, me and every one else.
