How to make money, tons of it [scourge event 1400g in 4 hours]

This is prolly getting nerfed soon but it still works at this moment.

Go to areas scourge is invading. there are usually 3/4 or so camps with mobs and a crystal, mobs respawn until crystal is 0 hp and then there are 4 shadow of doom's. All mobs have about 30% droprate of a necrotic runestone thingy. The shadows of doom aloways drop 30, rare mobs often drop 3 as well as some epics.

what I do, depending on how many people are busy, is preferably pull a camp, aoe, loot, run to other camp, pull, aoe, loot, run back to camp 1, pull aoe and loot, etc, until one stone is almost down, stick to that area and do the shadows one by one.

This night, I farmed these for about 3 hours. In total I got 10 or so epics, and 750 necrotic runestones. At the vendor in lights hope you can buy epics for 15 of these stones. I bought around 50 epics.

I disenchanted the total of 60 epics I gained in 3 hours of grinding and had around 100 void shards. (they seem to have a high 2x drop rate).

So that's 100 void shards in 3 hours. these I broke down into large prismatic shards, (make more money on my server.) lps's go for 10-12g a piece on my server. I spammed trade, mass selling them for 7g a piece. And made 1400 gold in 3 hours of grinding and one hour of selling.

As I said tho, blizz will prolly nerf the disenchantable items form the vendor, like they have done in the past too. However, for now it does still work. Use it while you can!

PPS: the longer you wait, the more likely people will catch on, the more likely prices on your shards drop too. So, you have to sell the shards low and in large quentities. It will flood the market, prices will decrease afterwards. Or keep the shards until when prices gone up again. :P

Oh, I strongly suggest to kill the shadow of dooms one by one. It goes fastest.

I once pulled four of them at the same time, and found myself healing a lot and eventually running oom. And when I used aoe I pulled 10 or so more mobs. I barely, barely managed to kill all four, using everything I had. And all in all the fight lasted like 5 times longer as opposed to killing all four of them one by one. :P

edit: Check your azeroth world map, some areas have a purple skull. go there, kill scourge. Get the quests in lights hope first tho.


An easy way to find all the scourge camps is to find the spacecraft and look at the flashes it directs to the camps on the ground.

Found it, cleared out an area, killed all 4 shadows, got my 10 runes per char and an extra 150 or so on my enchanter, bought a bunch of useless epics and DEed them...now im wondering if there are any ele shaman undead slaying pieces? I only saw enhancement pieces at the vendor but all my guys are in greens/blues so if theres any elemental mail i definitely want to pick it up tomorrow. Any ideas?

I found a circle all to myself after the servers came up yesterday - here are some of the invasion mechanics I discerned.

Two types of mobs drop epics - the Shades in the middle, and a variety of Rare spawns. So far, i've seen 3 rare spawn models - silvery phantom (can visually blend in with the regular ghosts, so watch for these in particular), skeletal mage, and zombie glutton/patchwerk type. The rare spawns seem to have a 100% chance to drop epic legs. The shades seem to always drop a stack of 30 runes, and have about a 50% chance of dropping an epic chest.

If you summon a Shade, then wait a while, another conjurer will respawn in his place. This won't happen indefinitely, but I did get 6 shades out of one circle. I was really hoping for more rare spawns, and occasionally killed one of shade while waiting. Eventually, the circle faded, and the regular mobs all despawned over the course of a few minutes. The conjurers didnt' despawn, but I Shade-ed them all pretty quickly once I saw the circle was gone. I would guess you could kill 3 Shades, let them repop, kill 3 more, and let them repop again before the circle dissapeared, if the circle disappears on a timer.

The regular mobs around the circle spawn AND DESPAWN regularly. I have no idea why, but the practical meaning of this is that rares will likely despawn if you take your sweet time getting to them (which I wouldn't do anyway, since someone else may happen by and tag them).

There's one armor set each for plate, mail, leather and cloth. Each is dps oriented, only the cloth is caster oriented, and you cannot mix and match the pieces for the set bonus (i.e., mail and leather have different set names, though the bonus is the same).

Yes someone please test this again today and see if it still works (DEing the epic items). I sold 20 void crystals last night (don't have 375enchanting yet so I couldn't break them into LPS) and was hoping to get another 30 or so tonight.

A better way to make money if this still works is making mongoose enchants to sell on AH ( if you have the enchant )
