There's the misconception that accounts merely have to be the same name; they also have to be exclusively used by a single person.
While the EULA says they must be the same name for transfering characters etc..
It also says you have to be the exclusive user of the account.

The only exception is if a minor child will be using the account, in which case they become the exclusive user, instead of the parent/guardian.
There's probably no way for a GM to distinguish between your child using their account on your IP and you doing the same.
Nonetheless, if the account is for your child, the EULA specifically has you agree to never use the account yourself for any reason.

So.. your account, your name. Your child's account, your name. Your spouse's account, your name.
Using either of the other two accounts is bannable, if you get caught; unlikely to happen with the same last name, but something you specifically agree to not do, every time the game is patched.

Anything with in the Addons folder is considered fair game
Graphics files, and sound files are fair games. Changing files that are not sanctioned is "I believe" what they are speaking of here. ex: the wow.exe, dll's etc

That's what most people think it means, but the policy is far more explicit in what is and isn't allowed and not without reason. From my experience (I'm an online gameplay programmer who specializes in preventing gameplay exploitation) I know that there is a large group of players who would like to use the files in the addons folder as a toolkit for grieving other players. This is why the exploitation policy explicitely allows style and look changes made by changing the sanctioned files, but disallows changes that create an unfair advantage.

Uh huh.

I can post screenshots (not for a while because I'm at work and moving house thus have no net at home -_-' ) to back up my statements if you really want.
All I'm saying is: Account sharing = bad and bannable. Owning accounts that you started (and have proof of starting) that are under different names = Not much better, but less chance of ban if you can provide evidence/explain.

Never said I was account sharing.
I started up 3 new accounts under different names, for what reason I don't know, but after speaking to a GM he said it shouldn't be an issue as long as I was the only one playing

But hey! Go nuts, edit this post as well and lets all play Jump to Conclusions (go watch office space if you don't know that game)
